If Kerry had managed to get John McCain on the ballot as his Vice Presidential candidate how would he do. Would Republicans be persuaded or would they consider him a traitor?

I was thinking the same. It would have caused a rift in the opposition and thats always a good thing.

Kerry/Kerry, polls showed Kerry was up about 15% (from memory) if McCain was his running mate.  But McCain obviously would never do it.  Also, while Kerry wins handily, Nader pulls a little better.

Had John Kerry been able to pull off this coup by recruiting John McCain for Vice President, this may well have been instrumental in delivering the victory to Kerry.

This ticket would have attracted a greater share of the independent vote to Kerry.

Kerry-312
Bush-226

Popular vote would be much closer. I can't see Kerry getting near 312 without a McCain-like presence on the ticket.

I think Iowa would flip before Missouri and even possibly Arizona
