In 1992, President Bush is re-elected narrowly against Governor Clinton, (In this scenario, Ross Perot doesn't run until '96.) due to his approval ratings still riding high after the Gulf War and finding an alternate route when dealing with the economy, instead of raising taxes. Bush serves the rest of his 2nd term moderately popular.
Once the 1996 election rolls around, Bill Clinton is still seen as very popular and gets re-nominated against Democratic candidates, such as Former Senator and 1992 Democratic Vice Presidential Nominee Al Gore, Governor Jerry Brown, and Senator Ted Kennedy among others. He nominates Governor Mario Cuomo as his Vice President.
Meanwhile, Vice President Quayle is nominated by the Republicans, though he wasn't as popular as his counterpart and is very prone to gaffes, he narrowly fights off his primary opposition from Senator Bob Dole, Former Presidential Advisor Pat Buchanan, and Senator Richard Lugar among others. Quayle chooses Dole as his Vice President.
The general election seems to be looking good for Clinton, with some polls having Independent Ross Perot beating the incumbent Vice President. But what do you think? Please discuss with maps.
