A better idea would be to make Justices retire after (say) a year or so.

It's also hard enough to get all the Justices we have now on at one time.
This would be a very valid reason to oppose the bill (and is in fact why I oppose it).  I am not opposed to the Senate tabling this bill; I am only opposed to the fact that it was done based on Preston's motives, and not the actual shortcomings of the bill itself.
That certainly is a very valid criticism that I will accept, and keep in mind during future debates.
