Jason Chaffetz is being rushed out foot surgery and summoned to the House to try and shore up votes

Seriously?

Am I missing something? This doesn't look even close to passing to me. Why does everybody suddenly assume it's a done deal?

Fortunately, this disgusting thing has no chance of passing in the Senate. It's sickening how many Republicans in Congress are happy to take millions off of health insurance just to get one last laugh at Obama and the Democrats. The priorities of Congress are fundamentally flawed to the point where our government isn't even working for us anymore. I know that there was always an element of partisanship, and that Obama didn't help with the polarization of this country, but this has really gone too far.

The problem isn't partisanship, the problem is that one party thinks it can get away with anything because its voters are "locked in".

May they be proven wrong in 2018.

The particularly terrifying ones are Lee, Cruz, and Cotton, but overall I still have some hope that it'll end up more tolerable. If it is worse then I doubt the Uptons and Longs and Frelinghuysens vote for it when it goes back to the House.

Cotton might actually not be as terrible on this front as he'd be on most others, by virtue of hailing from a State that expanded Medicaid. I seem to remember that he was one of the Senators who made statement against the 1.0 version of Ryancare.

New Q poll shows 21/56 approval for the current version of the AHCA: https://poll.qu.edu/national/release-detail?ReleaseID=2457

Lots more in the poll, including Trump's proposed tax plan.

If this bill passes, would it be the most unpopular major piece of legislation in modern history? I still have trouble believing Republicans would dare.

Rep. Tom MacArthur has resigned his leadership post from the Tuesday Group due to the divisions among its members regarding the AHCA.

...is this good or bad for the bill's prospects?

Anti-abortion provisions in tax credits may not allow AHCA to be considered under reconciliation:

It's annoying when Atlas conventional wisdom seems to suddenly shift without any indication as to why. Have people posting here read anything suggesting that the bill's chances are higher than they were before, or just engaging in random speculation?

This is pure evil.

I really hope TD is right, but I can't exactly feel relieved right now.
