In case you don't peruse the Washington State megathread, I figured some people might be interested to hear about what's on all of our local news right now:

A few days ago, the Seattle Times posted a story that a man is suing Seattle Mayor Ed Murray, alleging he sexually abused him in the 1980s. Murray has obviously denied the allegations, saying the accuser has no proof.

In order to back up his claim, the accuser has given details of Murray's apartment in the 1980s. Murray countered that this wasn't enough, as he admits to knowing the man and having him in his apartment. So, to be more specific, the man gave very specific details of Mayor Murray's anatomy. Murray now claims that he does not have this "unique mole" as the New York Daily News puts it.

Which brings us to today, when two local radio hosts had a roughly 10-15 minute discussion of moles in intimate places and how long they are believed to last depending on their nature and origins.

We are now eagerly awaiting Mayor Murray to put forth whatever new evidence he has to support this mole/no mole debate.

Well, I just thought some people might be interested to know. Smiley

True or not the number of child abusers that end up in elected office is disturbingly high. And nothing can really be done about it.

Wanna feel worse? It probably only signifies that you know a child abuser because they are so effing common

This whole story is just odd and disturbing. This could definitely hurt his re-election chances, though.

The law firm behind this raises massive red flags for me, honestly. If Murray looks seriously wounded in a few weeks, though,  I think we'll see Walkinshaw or Murray disciple Jaime Pedersen (who is married to my old high school vice principal!) jump in

First of all, gross.

Second, she's much more effective in the Council where she can grandstand and isn't actually responsible for anything. She won't run for Mayor

Settle for the excitement of Mayor Brady Walkinshaw or Mayor Bruce Harrell.

FWIW, it seems like all of Murray's potential rivals are staying mum on the whole situation right now.

I like Harrell but don't think he'd be a very effective Mayor.

Walkinshaw I think could actually be pretty solid, and he'd probbly be slightly to Murray's left
