My Kansas 2018 predictions:

Gov: Tilt D
1: Safe R
2: Tilt D
3: Lean R
4: Likely R

I know Davis is a strong candidate and there's no Democrat in KS-03 yet, but to say KS-02 is more likely to vote D over KS-03 is weird.

Whoops, mixed those two districts up accidentally. Let me edit.

Also, KS-02 is a lot more historically competitve than I thought. I can see a Davis victory here.

I think Nancy Boyda was the last Democrat to win this seat, in the wave election of 2006. So if 2018's a bit like 2006 I think Davis's got a shot.

Although I think Boyda was partially helped by Sebelius's coattails, but I also think Davis is a stronger candidate than she was. We'll see I guess.

Democrats should have a shot at the gubernatorial race in 2018 as well.

He just might win. On the GOP side, Senator Steve Fitzgerald, who makes some ludicrous statements, is running. He's been tough to beat in his own district (Dems seem to fall just short), but perhaps Davis is the one to defeat him for Congress. Wondering who else may run for the GOP. I could see Jake LaTurner giving it a go also.

IIRC - both Fitgerald and LaTurner belong to conservative faction in Kansas Republican party internal war. No moderate here?
Not a whole lot of mods in KS-2 to begin with, let alone those who might consider this. Tom Sloan (R-Lawrence) is way too moderate to win a GOP primary.

How did I miss this?

Anyways, wonderful news given what happened in KS-04. It needs to expand throughout more places.

Jake LaTurner (R-Pittsburg) was nominated to be State Treasurer today. Gotta wonder if he'll run again for that post in 2018, or if this will become a stepping stone for a 2018 KS-02 campaign.

LaTurner said that he'll run for a full term next year at the press conference.

Boyda was very unusual in that she won in the '06 wave against a flawed incumbent but washed back out again despite the '08 Dem tsunami. Exclusive club, I think about four members (including Don Cazayoux of LA-6).
