In a hypothetical future presidential election, if an African American was picked as the nominee for the GOP, how much of the black vote would they win?

Double the amount the GOP normally gets.  Which is still almost nothing.

Count me as skeptical.  Look how prominent Black Republicans are received by their Black colleagues in DC ... Black voters wouldn't warm up to a Black Republican nominee any more than about 2-3%, IMO.

10 percent or less. Black voters are a solid block for the Democrats, barring a Ron or Rand type getting the nomination.

Literally <10%. Maybe 13% at most depending on the candidate, but that's it. Tongue

If they are Kasich style Republicans with his record , they could probably get up to 28%, if not probably like 15%

According to exits it was only 25%, Steele got 44% overall though.

Tim Scott would probably lose it something like 81-16

Don't you think it depends on the qualities of the African-American candidate, and not just the fact that the candidate is black? Colin Powell or J.C. Watts as a nominee would get a very different reaction than Alan West, Tim Scott, or Clarence Thomas.

Here we are all these years after MLK said that people should be judged on the content of their character, not the color of their skin, and we still too many people spending too much energy on the effort to worry about latter rather than the former.
