This used to be an ancestral Blue Dog seat still Dan Boren left. But I doubt this hurts Mullin outside of a primary challenge maybe.

This district is a lot more conservative than NE-2 though.

I'm close to Markwayne Mullin's district - this is a part of his whole schtick. He runs again and again and again even though he says how much he hates being in Washington and how he pays his own way and is his own person (his votes are down the line GOP conservative, and he's not influential at all). I think he ought to be honest and either say "I love being a useless hack in congress and will continue down that path" or retire and go back to the business he must obviously enjoy way more.

Mullin's district was last represented by a Democrat in 2011 - by Dan Boren. It is the last Oklahoma District to flip to a Republican. However, this is a district that has trended so so so far to the right that I can't imagine a Democrat ever winning it again.

Given the trends, if Democrats really want an Oklahoma House seat, OK-05 is the one to go after, not this one.

He's not doing anything, but again, this district is not what it was even 6 years ago.

Still, no harm in trying. Some of the places that Republicans won in in 2010 were places that looked beyond safe in mid 2009. Put up the candidate and see what happens.

Probably, but if his constituents are particularly mad at Mullin, I wouldn't be surprised if a strong anti-abortion, pro-gun, pro-Jesus Dixiecrat could make this race competitive, considering this district's history.

I'll go ahead and say Mullin won't lose and only someone like Ralph Shortey could lose this district.

Mullin won his primary by a fairly underwhelming margin in 2016, I suspect he gets another primary challenge because, again, he's a very useless congressman.

Mullin inherited his business from his dad at age 20 and took stimulus dollars while trashing the program as "wasteful spending".

Mullin is basically trash and always has been.

Mullin inherited his dads business (and dropped out of college) because his father was ill, he also started 5-6 other businesses many of which are successful. While he has his faults this is a really unfair characterization

okay fair enough - but again, Mullin's whole schtick is whining about hating congress, which is really annoying when he continues to run over and over again without having any sort of influence in the GOP caucus.

Democrats should ignore Oklahoma. It is a waste of time, and we don't need it. Potential pickups worth our time are in SOCAL, Florida, Texas, Georgia, Virginia, Nebraska 2nd, Arizona, Maybe Montana with Rob Quist, and Iowa 1st.
