North Korea "will go to war" if the US chooses to provoke it, the country's Vice Foreign Minister says. He said the US and President Donald Trump were making trouble in the region by moving an aircraft carrier strike group into Korean waters and participating in its largest-ever joint military exercises with South Korea. He also said the country would continue developing its nuclear program and conduct its next nuclear test whenever its leaders saw fit.

"Now we are comparing Trump's policy toward [North Korea] with the former administration's and we have concluded that it's becoming more vicious and more aggressive," he said. "Trump is always making provocations with his aggressive words. It's not the DPRK but the US and Trump that makes trouble," Mr Han said. In the AP interview, Mr Han dismissed the suggestion Mr Trump made last year during his presidential campaign that he was willing to meet Kim Jong-un, possibly over hamburgers. "I think that was nothing more than lip service during the campaign to make himself more popular," Mr Han said.

The annual US-South Korean military exercises have consistently infuriated the North, which sees them as rehearsals for an invasion. Washington and Seoul deny that, but reports that exercises have included "decapitation strikes" aimed at the North's leadership have fanned Pyongyang's anger.

China & Russia call for restraint, asks for no provocative steps, pre-emptive actions

China's foreign minister Wang Yi said today there would be 'no winner' in any war, as tensions mount with the US.'Dialogue is the only possible solution', he told reporters in Beijing.'If a war occurs, the result is a situation in which everybody loses and there can be no winner.' Wang said that whichever side provoked a conflict 'must assume the historic responsibility and pay the corresponding price'.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told journalists: 'Moscow is watching with great concern the escalation of tensions on the Korean peninsula. We call for restraint from all countries and warn countries not to pursue actions that could consist of any provocative steps.'

North Korean foreign ministry official warns of Thermonuclear war

At the same time, a spokesman for the North Korean Foreign Ministry's Institute for Disarmament and Peace issued a statement condemning the United States for attacking Syria last week, while also calling for 'peace by strength'.

'The US introduces into the Korean peninsula, the world's biggest hotspot, huge nuclear strategic assets, seriously threatening peace and security of the peninsula and pushing the situation there to the brink of a war,' the North's KCNA news agency said on Friday, citing the statement.'This has created a dangerous situation in which a thermo-nuclear war may break out any moment on the peninsula and posed serious threat to the world peace and security, to say nothing of those in Northeast Asia,' it said.

North Korea to CNN - May make pre-emptive strike

The Pentagon sent the 97,000-ton USS Carl Vinson with an escort of a guided-missile cruiser and two destroyers after the latest missile test by North Korea last week. Carrying more than 5,000 sailors and 60 aircraft, the USS Carl Vinson is escorted by guided-missile destroyers USS Wayne E. Meyer and USS Michael Murphy and the guided-missile cruiser USS Lake Champlain.

North Korea has issued a forceful response to the deployment of a US naval strike group to the region, saying it would counter "reckless acts of aggression" with "whatever methods the US wants to take." In a statement provided to CNN by officials in North Korea, Pyongyang said the "current grim situation" justified its "self-defensive and pre-emptive strike capabilities with the nuclear force at the core. "We will make the US fully accountable for the catastrophic consequences that may be brought about by its high-handed and outrageous acts," the statement said.

Japan - North Korea may fire weapons with sarin gas

Speaking to lawmakers, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said there is possibility that North Korea already has the capacity to equip missile warheads with sarin projectiles, according to Nikkei Asia Review.

Trump takes things the National Enquirer says seriously; I think he'd believe anything that comes from North Korea too.

And one thing is certain: if he keeps bombing away things to bring up his approval rating, he will eventually spread our forces too thin. We can't (and shouldn't) be the world police.

The one thing I do see now, is that NK has a nutty leader, who would constantly say crazy things and threatening to do this and that.

Well ..... now Kim Jong-un is matched by our own (USA) nutty leader, throwing the same style of mud back in the North Korean's face.
It's hard to read if one or both are (and have been) serious with all their delusional chatter, since their mental well-being is hard to properly diagnose.

And let's not forget that one of them likely faces death for himself and his family if he falls from power, while the other has record-low popularity ratings and subject to the slow but relentless exposure of his campaign as co-operating with a hostile foreign power.  Trump probably thinks a short victorious war with North Korea would be just what the spin doctor ordered.

Are you actually insane? Comparing Trump to a literal madman?

I can't believe that this nonsense is allowed. Any poster who equated Obama with a dictator would have received an infraction for sure.

Only Trump is Trump, though. Is it hyperbole? Sure. Is this situation different than in the past? You better believe it!

Take with a grain of salt since the original source is Pravda, but it's been reported that 600K people are being evacuated from Pyongyang.

Everyone has called North Korea's bluff every time they say war is imminent for the last 60 years. Trump might just be the first person to fall for it.

Very true.

Trump managed to get China to put clear, visible pressure on NK - a feat no other president has managed to do.

China didn't merely stop accepting imports of NK coal, but also commanded that the coal they had already taken in be returned immediately.

This is huge. Coal is the only resource that the Norks export, in exchange for food. China literally keeps the country afloat. For decades NK has been antagonizing the world, knowing the China had their backs.

That's obviously changed.

Trump has done more in his 100 days then Obama did in 8 years.

Actually, Obama and Kim had a much better relationship:

This has been going on for a long time and would have continued with or without Trump.
