did your life so far turn out like you expected it to be at this point in time ?

(Obviously, this is only for posters who are at least 20 years old or so ... Tongue)

My 30th birthday is coming up soon, and I'm officially an old soon, so it's time to evaluate the life situation.

For me, mostly yes.

Obviously, I thought that I'd be in a relationship with a hot woman by now (nah, not really ...) and that I maybe had kids (nah, not really either ...), but otherwise it's like I expected it. I have a nice penthouse apartment, a nice car, a good job, enough savings and I'm generally healthy.

What about you ?

Basically yes, although no, I didn't expect to end up living in Hudson  on the "wrong" side of the tracks with a gay Samoan guy and a miniature snoodle (staring at me sadly at the moment with his adorable little face because I am typing rather the roughhousing with him), and "meddling" in nearly everything that goes on within the city limits. Who knew that I was the "meddling" type? Tongue

Knowing my luck, it won't, but I'm hoping I'll be surprised.

My life has turned out pretty much exactly as planned thus far. Married young, got a professional job, had a kid young.

Yeah, about a year ago I predicted that I'd be a Senior in High School at this point. It's scary how accurate I was.

In most respects, my life so far has turned out much better than I ever imagined it would. The respects in which it hasn't are pretty serious, though.

In some ways yes, other ways no, but at 25 it's really far too early to say.

As long as I don't have memory loss between now and then, yes.

Well, I'm still alive so that's the biggest difference between where I thought I'd be at 15 and where I am now.

The past 10-12 years have definitely not gone exactly how I planned. In many ways, that's a good thing, since I've done much more traveling and living abroad than I thought I would do. On the other hand, getting my career started has been a bit more of a struggle and taken longer than I anticipated.

Absolutely not.

And for the most part, it's been very unfavorable.

Not really. I was certain I'd be out of Seattle at this point, and the only real question for me was whether I'd be on the East Coast, UK, or elsewhere in Europe. I was pretty dead-set on getting as far away from home as possible at that age. I still am to some extent, but at least my life is more together now than it probably would have been if I had gone to university in the UK.

I'm a senior at the university that I kind of figured I would end up going to, so yeah. Next year is another question altogether.

Pretty sure I didn't have any expectations about where I'd be in the future when I was 15.  I guess I did put together my college list for good journalism programs.  Never actually took a journalism course...

Since the past year has been incredibly different from what I expected back when I joined Atlas, I think I'll end up surprised one way or the other.

Yeah a bit different. Life is really freaking hard. Like, wow. Hard. I was not fully aware of the magnitude of that fact.

maybe had kids (nah, not really either ...),

How can this be a not really? Is there something you have to tell us? Tongue

Well, I'm 19 right now, so it isn't as though a large amount of time has passed. It has gone more or less as I intended it would, yes, though some details I did get wrong.

Żes and no.

Had three boys which i never expected.

But i feel pretty good about life. At 16, i never would have envisaged the improvement in quality of life through technological advances.

Existential crisis is always a possibility in your 30's.

At that age I was sick and didn't think I'd live until 21.  It was close, but thankfully I was wrong.  Smiley
