Several years ago, before the reset we tried to pass four different bills if memory serves me, but they all were rejected because of lack of concrete evidence that HFCS was more dangerous than table sugar, and

The tariffs had mostly already been removed, and the subsidies were likewise.

That is not the case, at least not with regards to the subsidies. Some of the sugar production countries are covered under FTAs passed by the RL US prior to our reset and those would apply here. But other FTAs that were passed by Atlasia in 2008 and 2009, no longer exist and thus some of those countries would likely still have these tariffs.

The goal of this bill is not to eliminate one kind of sugar on a basis that it is much worse than other kinds. The objective is to remove those incentives that create the financial inducements that make it prevalent in so much of our foods. I don't expect even with this passing, that suddenly a great deal of what is in our food would change in the immediately aftermath, but over time I expect a gradual diversification of the sugars in our food products.

Finally, this will devote money to research into the fight against diabetes. And I just realized that portion was composed before I discovered Truman's executive order on the cabinet departments.

Very important piece of legislation that I support wholeheartedly. I hope this bill will put an end to a dangerous trend in this country and will improve the general awareness on health and healthy food.

Does anyone have any more contributions to make, statements, concerns, support?

72 hours minimum debate has expired.

So if not I am moving to a final vote. Tongue
