I mean, he'd probably at least do better than Ron "DUDE WEED LMAO" Crumpton.

US Attorney is a good launchpad. It's still Alabama, but surprisingly credible candidate

Luther Strange apparently ran a campaign ad with a fake newspaper and fake headlines about himself, as well as numerous other falsehoods.

Cool, he's almost certainly more electable than either Moore or Strange.

I wouldn't say Brooks is more electable than Strange; they're about on the same level.

Richard Lindsey would be a strong, strong candidate for this.

Wow that's a lot of candidates. Imagine if it's Mary Maxwell vs. Will Boyd.

How does Alabama's electoral system work again?

Sorry if we've already seen this, but Wikipedia reports a GCS poll of Moore vs Jones

https://surveys.google.com/reporting/survey?survey=sb6hd2iw5onn4qekyzq4fqbnoi

On the wiki page the report is incorrect, it is approximately 55 Moore - 45 Jones, although nearly a majority of those surveyed say they won't vote.

I think the GOP has a better-than-usual chance at losing if Roy Moore wins the nom, but it's taking a big risk because if he wins the nom and the Dem loses, then we have Senator Roy Moore.

As a Republican, I would not like the fundraising national spur for fundraising that would give Democrats. Tongue

I thought just hit me. Alabama as runoff primaries, right? If so wow I could see Roy Moore winning the first round realistically how does he win the runoff?

As much as I would love to see Roy Moore in the Senate, I don't want to wind up with a competitive race in Alabama of all places

It's Alabama. He can't lose the GE.

No. No open seat in a red state should be taken for granted by the GOP. Remember what happened in IN and ND in 2012?

Likely R.

There's no comparision between AL and IN/ND

A Strange/Moore runoff is a very probable outcome IMO

Hard to see Moore winning a majority in the second-round though.

I had no idea this race was so crowded. I had thought that Strange was appointed and that he was going unchallenged!

even in Alabama, with the kind of shenanigans going on with his seat, too many people were not going to let this opportunity slip.

Brinson or Strange would help with that.

Fair point (and I know AL is much more inelastic than IN/ND), but never underestimate how crazy and unpredictable these special elections can get, especially if turnout is low. If the GOP nominee implodes or turns out to be corrupt as hell, all bets are off. I mean... if there is a party that knows how to lose a Senate race in a state like AL, it's the Republican Party.

So, since it looks like Sessions could be out of the Justice Department rather sooner than later, is it possible that he runs again for his old seat? I think he could beat Strange in the primary.
