How many voters here have ever split their ticket? Independents and 3rd parties count.

I wrote in an extended family member of Massachusetts State Auditor in 2014; she was the almost-successful Republican candidate in 2010 and lost to someone who isn't even a CPA. I haven't voted Republican otherwise except strategically for Rubio in the 2016 primaries, and I haven't voted third-party; I abstained in the 2016 general for reasons that I now sort of regret.

In New York, you can even split your ticket while voting all Democrat (or all Republican).

I did this year, albeit way low on the ballot - I voted Republican for State House (Deeply Republican State House District + The Republican nominee was a moderate who beat a far righter).

I've done it in most elections

In the last election I voted for Progressives, Renewal Front (moderate right-wing populists), FPV (moderate left-wing populism?), and Pro (center-right), IIRC

Àll the time, because that is how Swiss elections work. For example t the last Cantonal elections there I could vote for 7 candidates, but only four Socialists were standing, so I lso voted for a green and two guys from the far left party

Yes. I split between Democrats and Greens this past year. I've never voted for a Republican.

My 2016 ballot was straight D and I think two Libertarians, but I didn't vote for any Republican.  Most of the races were uncontested because democracy doesn't exist in North Carolina.  I chose not to endorse that system by checking the name anyway.

I wrote in an extended family member of Massachusetts State Auditor in 2014; she was the almost-successful Republican candidate in 2010 and lost to someone who isn't even a CPA. Why Rubio?

I voted for the Republican state senate candidate in 2016 because I really, really didn't like the Democratic candidate. Not his policies, his personality rubbed me the wrong way. I live in one of the safest d senate districts, though so it was a protest I wouldn't have made elsewhere.

I've never voted straight party line, and that's not just because some races were uncontested. Generally the more local the race, the more likely I am to vote for a Republican.

But for example, last year I voted for Hillary and Bill Huizenga (MI-2).

Same reason as me. To stop Trump.

2016 is the first time I've not split a ticket. I voted Democratic for all elections from POTUS downward (though, only a couple of races even had Republicans running in them to begin with and all were non-serious gadfly candidates).

Voted for Frank Wolf (R) in 2012.  Haven't voted for a non-Democrat since. Perhaps if Hillary won I may have voted for my GOP State House Rep., but that's not gonna happen now.

Strangely, all the votes I've cast so far were actually for PS candidates (mostly because at the local level the PS leader is someone I know). It's probably going to change soon, though.

Yes. I voted McKenna (R) for Governor in 2012, Davidson (R) for State Treasurer in 2016 (it was an R vs. R election, and I'd rather pick my favorite than abstain), and Sawant (SAlt) for city council when she ran city-wide in 2013. I definitely voted for one more Republican in 2012, but I don't remember which office it was for, since whoever it was didn't end up winning. Looking back at the results, I think it might have Watkins for State Auditor.

I voted to reelect the Republican Judge of the County Superior Court last year, in lieu of voting for an independent candidate I had never heard of. The Democrats didn't contest the 2015 municipal elections, so I ended up voting in the Republican primary that year as well.

Once, in 2012.  Voted for the Peace & Freedom candidate over Feinstein.

I have voted third party, but I doubt I will ever vote for a Democrat.

I'm pretty sure I've always split my ticket in a general/top-two primary.

Yes.  I did so the first time I voted (2006).  I regrettably voted for a few Republicans, and I'm particularly ashamed of my vote for Mike Rounds for Governor.

The only other time I didn't vote straight Democratic was 2014 when I voted for Larry Pressler (I) for Senate.

I voted for a few local Republicans in 2014, but not really out of actual choice. Straight Democratic in other elections iirc.

I've voted consistently Republican over the last decade except 2016 (when I did a write in, instead of Trump).
