The "resistance" to Trump is being crystallized; the "resisters" are seen as in the minority versus a "silent majority".

...Have you seen his approval ratings?

He's underwater, 43%-51% according to Gallup.  As he was when he was elected.

I don't see where the Democrats are significantly more popular.  I also remember Obama's approval rating when Trump was elected.

Democrats are winning generic ballot polls by a significant margin.

Also Obama wasn't running in 2016. My point isn't that Democrats are guaranteed to win in 2020 (I don't think they are) just that your assertion that Trump supporters are a "silent majority" is ridiculous.

To be honest, I don't really know yet. I know some people have a lot of beef with her for not prosecuting Steven Mnuchin.

"Y'know, if there's one thing I think that really could've won 2016 for us, it would've been just to try to run up numbers in solidly Democratic states."

Any supposed strengths of hers look as fake as Marco Rubio's to me. I could see her having a similar debate meltdown too.
I just hope we have at least one candidate follow a similar trajectory to Jeb! Bush in 2016.

Listen to her interview on The Axe Files and you'll see why.

She's attractive, charismatic, and smart.

She would be far more formidable in 2024 after completing a full term in the Senate.  Hopefully (for her), that term won't have Rubio-esque absenteeism and will reflect some growth from the silly questions she asked of some folks during their confirmation hearings.

Do we know that she's even actually interested in running?

Sure she could be formidable. But tough to predict what sort of political climate we'll be living in when the 2020 campaign kicks off. It was a bit easier for Obama in 2008. Bush was wildly unpopular, the economy was a mess. McCain was 72 and not very well liked among the GOP either, and he was too afraid to go negative on Obama and examine his background.

Things were set up quite well for the Obama phenomenon to take shape...not sure they will work out quite the same way for Kamala.

Do we know that she's even actually interested in running?

She's speaking at the first "cattle call" of the 2020 season: the Center for American Progress's "Ideas Conference" next month, which'll also feature several other 2020ers (e.g., Booker, Gillibrand, and Warren).  She also hired Hillary Clinton's Iowa spokeswoman to be her communications director.

She was asked point blank a few days ago if she's running for prez in 2020, and here was her response:

Here’s a 2 minute video clip of an interview with Kamala Harris:

http://www.nbcbayarea.com/news/local/Sen-Kamala-Harris-in-Bay-Area-to-Talk-About-Trump-Future-419799104.html

In the last few seconds of the clip, the interviewer asks “Are you going to run for president in 2020?”

Harris laughs, then says “I don’t even know what I’m having for dinner.”

So I'd say it's certainly possible.
