If Sanders or Warren is the Democratic nominee in 2020, and Trump wins (and even solidly wins the popular vote this time, Warren/Sanders do worse than Hillary)... then where do the Democrats go from there, in 2024 and beyond?

Gabbard 24? "The Era of Multiculturalism is over". Though if they lose every single national election between now and 2023, I can see them slowly getting replaced.

Given the direction of the Democratic Party they'll nominate another progressive candidate in 2024. If they're still losing then they'll recalibrate by 2028.

The progressive movement will start to collapse, and Democrats will abandon their ambition to become socialists.

The Democrats would blame the "Vast Right Wing Conspiracy" for all their problems.

And forget Gabbard.  She is a light weight politician who would rather blame the U.S. for  bombing toddlers and babies with chemical weapons than she would blame Assad and the Russians.

Gabbard is a complete joke.

Remember that in from 1980-1988, Republicans won three consecutive elections with 400+ electoral votes each time. Did that cause the Democrats to stay in the woods forever? No.

Thus, even if the Democrats lose the next election, it is still only a matter of time before they regain power.

I believe they were talking more about the direction of the party, not if they'll ever win again. Personally I believe it would shut up some of these smug progressives who blame moderates for all their problems
