I had incorrectly assumed, since he's from Norway, that Bondevik was a leftist. Turns out he's a Christian Democrat leading a center-right coalition.

So many supposedly leftist European countries with right wing governments now. Denmark, Netherlands, Norway...

Still I'd rather have Ahern gone first. Then I'll focus on him.

I voted Bondevik because it's Norway, for crying out loud. What are they famous for? Leather exports?

let me guess: abortion, gay marriage or another moderately social-conservative position of his.

Rodriguez

Hugh, ever heard of Ibsen and Grieg? Peer Gynt? I bet you heard the music. Then there's oil, discovering Greenland, Iceland, the North Pole. Lindisfarne, creating the image of the vikings. Not to mention oil and being the world's third richest and most liveable country. They also award the Noble Peace prize.

I think that compares well to Bolivia, Chile, Ghana, Uruguay...

somewhat. It's actually because he's simply the most conservative candidate remaining. In addition to keeping Ireland's laws on abortion and the like he is current in a coalition with the neoliberal/far right on economics Progressive Democrats.

What do you mean?

Yushchenko pulled the Ukranian troops OUT of Iraq. The Polish guy is the last guy remaining who sent them though I believe, and I hope we can sink him soon too.
