I'm not in favor of this at all. Women already do too much work. They are the main child caretakers (not to mention that they are the birth givers), the main household cooks, the main house cleaners, AND they hold down full time jobs.

When men start doing those things in equal measure as females (except for the birthing), then we'll talk. But I maintain that females are more valuable members of society than males and they should be protected at all costs.

I'm with Rand Paul on this: "Rand Paul of Kentucky, filed an amendment that would have gotten rid of the draft altogether, but it [too] failed to get traction.

Id rather we achieve equality by eliminating the bad thing rather than just subjecting more people to the bad thing.

There shouldn't need to be a draft, but if we have to have it then it should be for everyone.

I think we should just eliminate the "draft framework" entirely, but if we're going to keep the framework, we need to include women and trans people.

We shouldn't be put in that position, but if we all have to go, we all have to go.

I don't have a problem with women in the military, but we should leave it to those women who want to volunteer for service.

The draft is there when massive amounts of "boots" (soldiers on the ground) are necessary for major conflicts/wars.
The thought that we would "force" women to fight in this capacity (as "boots"), it not realistic.

Good. One step closer to equality.

Where do you get equality in this? What do you suppose the percentage is of men who are the main caretakers of the kids? Or of the household...meaning the housework, the laundry, the cooking?

How is it equal that females do more work in the home, and also hold down full time jobs, and now have to register for the draft?

How is what men do equal to that?

But that's the reality. And I'll be danged if I would ever agree to load up more work on females while the males remain unchanged in their work load.

Right, which is why it is super urgent to change the work load at home so males take up a higher burden.

Here's another opinion. There are SOME females who have the physical strength and the drive to serve in the military. And if they qualify and WANT to join up, then that should be their choice.

Most females are not equipped mentally or physically to fight in wars. Most females are equipped to GIVE LIFE, not take it away. Giving life is the most important role in society.

The same could be said that most men are not equipped mentally or physically to give birth. It's not what they were put on earth to do.

Leave the fighting for the testosterone and the birthing for the estrogen.

But UNTIL what you are suggesting happens, then women should be left alone. And how do you propose to make these changes? Just saying things need to change doesn't make things change.

This is better than no change, but eliminating Selective Service would be better still.

This needs to happen first, because MRAs use the fact that only men register for selective service as an argument against feminist reforms. Or we can eliminate it altogether as others said.

I cant believe some people are comparing the responsibility of laundry/cooking, to the draft and war (fighting in battle).
Really ?

You are right, but it's still a good conversation to have.
