Trump honors a serviceman and you still choose to complain? Yes, purple hearts aren't meant to be congratulated for, but come on, save your outrage for more important things, like a government shutdown.

Do you really think this shows trump does not respect the military, a group he won by 30+?

Yeah, this is really grasping at straws.

Yeah, he probably didn't mean to be a jackass about it, but...it's just another indicator in a long line of them that shows Trump doesn't know the first f[inks]ing thing about the military, what servicemembers experience, how it operates, what sacrifice means, etc.

Especially in conjunction with the fact that he obviously only did this so publicly to give frothing-at-the-mouth nationalists a huge Freedom Boner in the wake of his plummeting approval ratings, it's fair game to criticize.

I would tend to agree with this interpretation. I don't think Trump meant any disrespect, but rather he gravely misunderstands military culture. I might do something similar, intending to congratulate the veteran on receiving the award instead of doing so for receiving the injury, without thinking in the moment that these things are inextricably linked.
