DF or New Right. The Social Democrats would be my third choice.

I vote based on party heritage. Which party is historically pro-monarchy, pro-Christianity, pro-landed aristocracy, anti-bourgeois, and anti-Communist?

I like SF a lot too, and probably agree with their platform a bit more than the Social Democrats. But I like Mette Fredriksen better than Pia Olsen Dyhr as a party leader.

Culturally, and heritage wise, I prefer Social Democrats, as they seem to have more working class appeal, and more patriotic virtues in terms of culture. I also like the leader of the social democrats better, and believe they are better fit to lead the country.

Is Fredriksen actually left-wing, or a slightly better disguised neoliberal sellout?

Is Fredriksen actually left-wing, or a slightly better disguised neoliberal sellout?

Always difficult to answer before she has been in government, but there is a legitimate hope that she would be more left-wing on economy in government. It seems pretty clear that if the Red Bloc wins the next election, the Social Democrats will ditch the Social Liberals and form a government on their own. In fact, if another party is to join the first Frederiksen government, SPP probably even has a better shot. Additionally, Frederiksen has courted DPP and Thulesen Dahl to the extent, that it seems quite likely that she could carry through significant parts of her economic policies without the Social Liberals. This did not happen under Thorning-Schmidt, partly because the DPP had made an agreement with the rest of the Blue Bloc and Social Liberals to raise retirement age and cut unenployment benefits under the previous Blue government. However, DPP distanced themselves from that deal during Thorning-Schmidt's term and showed willingness to vote for a more leftist economic policies, but due to clear Social Liberal opposition as well an unease about DPP-cooperation among Thorning and others in the Social Democrat top, such cooperation never materialized.

However, pessimists could point out that she was Minister of Employment for three years in the Thorning cabinets, where she carried out relatively tough reforms on flexijobs and early retirements for people with some degree of disability. But in a Social Liberal straitjacket and with Thorning and Finance Minister Corydon also pushing some reforms, there was probably little choice if she wanted to stay in government.

Frederiksen was orginally leftish on both economy and migration, scornfully called the "Hugo Chavez" wing by some in the party, but she has tacked significantly to the right on migration. Perhaps after the intimate experience with the Social Liberal combination of open borders and dismantling the welfare state. Again, the exact state of this is hard to gauge before being in government, but the Social Democrats have supported basically all of the current VLAK-government's proposals. Most areas have already been toughened as far as possible within international conventions, so as long as that remains the playing field, she should not have problems getting the Social Democrats on board with a tough policy. However, if there is suddenly another huge influx like in 2015 or Løkke in some hail mary attempt to win the next election, proposes significant measures like leaving the Refugee Convention and/or the ECHR, then that could wreck the current careful balance in the Social Democrats (and the Liberals, why it still remains an unlikely scenario).

Could there be a SD-DPP coalition, or would that be too controversial amongst the members and lacking in minor party support?
