Since Melania Trump spends so much time in New York and Ivanka Trump is always by her father's side, does that mean that Ivanka is the real First Lady? It makes so much sense now.

Does it matter? First Lady is a social role.

Melania is moving into the White House in a few days, so you'll see more of her. Baron is old enough to be "left at home alone" (i.e., he and a Secret Service dude play X-box all day) so the motherhood aspect of her life won't be so dominant. Ivanka will remain the defacto hostess 25% of the time and will have a more political role.

I'm fairly sure Donald is closer to Ivanka in the Oval Office than Bill was to Monica. I suspect they share a bed.

It's clearly Ivanka. Melania is just a trophy and clearly doesn't want to be a first lady.

No, Barron Trump is still at an age where it is best if his mother is there for him.

And don't forget, Melania and Barron will be moving into the White House at the end of this school year, so this discussion is largely academic.

I'll bet she never moves in there. She has her rich extravagant life established and runs in her own circles. What's in the WH for her? Stupid stuff to do. She and Trump probably have separate bedrooms anyway so it's not like they are missing out on anything there.

Does it matter? First Lady is a social role.

It usually becomes an influential one.  Laura Bush was into literacy.  Michelle Obama was into curbing obesity among the youth.  Their projects found their way into policy.  Ivanka Trump wants to sell clothes.  Maybe that will affect policy in some way.

Roll back the minimum wage in Saipan to revive the textile industry there? Pay Chinese guest workers $3.55/hr to make Trump-branded clothes and be able to call them "Made in the USA"?

There is no such a thing as a "First Lady/Gentleman". Only a private citizen who happens to be married to the President.
