Ugh.

But this is beyond "ugh."

This is moaning as I'm drowning in the tears of our sad reality.

So humbling. Wow. It takes guts to make a statement like that.

Donald Trump once again demonstrates that his governing abilities are near zero and he doesn't understand the concept of putting together coalitions, leading the country and passing an agenda.

He's the oldest man elected president, doesn't sleep well, doesn't eat well, and isn't in good physical shape. He's also clearly bored out of his mind. He's going to resign this year or next before he actually gets hit with a scandal.

I don't know why people even think he's gonna be the nominee for 2020 at this point.

This makes me think he'll probably resign by mid 2018.

And? I'm sure every man who has assumed the presidency has had the same thought. No one is prepared for that kind of responsibility.

I would assume that people with previous political experience as a vice president, cabinet secretary, governor, or senator have at least some idea what a tough job the presidency is, and that it doesn't consist mainly of golfing in your private winter retreat in Florida.

The best way out for him at this point is to denounce the Electoral College, appoint Hillary as VP, and resign

We live in a constitutional republic and not some empire in which the All Powerful Leader gives an order and it is followed by everyone with clicked heels and "Ja wohl!" as one saw on Hogan's Heroes. If someone were to write a college-level paper suggesting that a President could act much like President Trump I would give it a failing grade as a professor, not so much out of loathing as from a recognition of the appropriateness of checks and balances. The President must get as much as possible achieved through legislation -- and President Trump has even bypassed Congress despite it showing signs of willingness of passing just about anything that he wants. That's before I even mention the settled reality of legal precedent including decisions of the courts and English common law. This is the sort of President that most people simply want to outlast and repudiate.

Helps explains why he wasn't as successful as he could be. He basically dictated everything as a businessman and surrounded himself with yes men. Told people what to do and then didn't get into the actual dealings of his business. Considering most CEOs work long hours and work hard it's amazing how craptastic Trump is.

He is the dumbest President we've ever had.  It's the only thing that makes any sense.  He's just dumb.  He got to where he is because he is stupidly self confident, started with money and money handlers, and he can be (apparently) likable in person.  Combine that with a bit of luck and timing and you get Trump before 2016.  Add in a heavy dose of "hey DC, we're all fed up with your sh**t", a pinch of "no other likable outsiders running" and a big heaping helping of "garbage other candidate" and you get Trump as President.

And? I'm sure every man who has assumed the presidency has had the same thought. No one is prepared for that kind of responsibility.

I think some are prepared for it.

Surely those who have worked closely with the office previously.

There are some with extensive government and leadership experience.

There've even been some who lived in the White House, and were closer to the president than anyone else, saw firsthand the inner workings of two different (and successful) administrations, and then later ran for the presidency herself.

Sure, there are situations that arise that are unexpected sometimes. But a steady hand is what is needed for those situations--very much unlike the unsteady, tiny hands we've got now.

But yea, you're right: most people are not prepared for the job. Even a lot of people who run for the office. Some of them actually win. And that's scary and very sad to know that the American people can sometimes not recognize what kind of person is needed.
