Every once in a while, I run across pre-2000 precinct data with the ability to be mapped. This thread will serve to host such maps which aren't from presidential primaries, which already have a thread. I'll likely only post maps here occasionally, but others are welcome to do so.

I'll start with Texas, 1996 President:

Awesome!!!

Don't suppose you have the ability to plot the Perot support in some fashion in TX, since I suspect he did quite well in the Lone Star state even in '96....

Regardless, it's still pretty impressive how well Bill Clinton did not only in EastTex, but also in many other rural and heavily Anglo precincts elsewhere in Texas.

You wouldn't happen to have any more maps laying around somewhere, would you realist?

Not at the moment, but I'm sure I will eventually. My current priority is something much bigger.

Loudoun in 1996 nowhere near the same county it is 21 years later. Note how few precincts there are in the eastern part of the county compared to now. If this election took place four years later however, I'm pretty sure Clinton would've carried the state.

Also, it's amazing that there was a Republican precinct in Alexandria bordering DC.

Would a Texas 1992 precinct map be out of the question?  I'm kind of interested in how that map would look.

My source for Texas data only goes back to 1994, unfortunately.

Shame.  Could you perhaps do Hawaii ignoring mail in ballots for year 2004 then?

Whether it's Yellow Dogs dying off and being replaced with younger, more conservative (yes, more conservative, not just more Republican) generations or previously Democratic voting Southerners switching allegiances or both ... the collapse of Democrats in the rural South since then is nothing short of astonishing from a political standpoint.
