I think it's absolutely disgraceful, but what's your opinion?

Nothing wrong with it, and I'm very happy to see him moving away from politics. But you reap what you sow.

Undignified behaviour that undermines his already pretty pathy legacy.

I'd love to hear a Libertarian avy's explanation for why he takes issue with politicians shilling for the ruling class. This is the world you people wanted.
Ron Paul voted for the 2008 bailouts? Show me a libertarian who supported them, and I'll find you a Democrat who supports Nikki Haley over Tulsi Gabbard. That is, you show me a LINO, I'll show you a DINO.

The Whig and early Republican parties were by no means libertarian in nature. Learn your history.

Depends on what he said, I suppose, but he obviously has an inherent right to address them, and in fact to be paid to address them if they want him that badly, and I would say it's anti-American to suggest otherwise. Absolute free speech and capitalism are two of the most important pillars of our society.

I can't exactly say I agree with either of those possible answers, but I definitely wish he'd donate that money to a beneficial cause.

It's not so much disgraceful as it is hypocritical IMO. If he wants to do it, that's his business, but it throws a wrench in the idea that the American centre to centre-left is for the working stiff.

Took the words right out of my mouth.

So we can have a political system where wall street does not make politicians grovel before them, while simultaneously removing the regulations that prevent them from doing so?

Two things, if people want to pay that much to hear me speak, I'll take it in a damn heartbeat. Two, I assume the majority of the money is going to help the Obama Foundation, not directly himself. Either way, I think it's an elitest thing to do, but I would do exactly the same thing in his shoes.

Don't care.

It would only be acceptable if he wasn't gonna continue to stay involved in politics.

But he is. He was clearly instrumental in getting Perez elected DNC Chair. He's indicated that he wants to pursue an agenda to get civic participation up, tackle gerrymandering, and to get money out of politics. Does anybody seriously think that this isn't representative of a system that's set up to buy influence? It's written all over it.

Nothing wrong with it. Wall Street obviously has its bad apples, but not everyone who works there is automatically evil or anything like that.

Seriously. I would like to see what all the critics would do if they were in his shoes. I highly doubt all of you would turn down $400k opportunities out of principle.
