Jfc, he's still a person; choosing to assoc. himself w/ the FN is *NOT* a crime, let alone deserving of the death penalty

Do candidates have the chance to ask for recounts or does every candidate always simply accept the results, no matter how close they are ?

Lot of close results so far, not that it means or changes anything ...

What will happen to LR will be interesting. The party could split in two between a pro-Macron party and an opposition party.

(Also that means that the presidential majority is larger than just LREM/MoDem, with some in PS and LR)

Where would Baroin fall in this? He apparently is Sarko's protege, but he doesn't look as right-wing as Wauquiez or Sarkozy himself, but he also isn't as centrist like Juppé or NKM.

New Ipsos projection

LREM/MoDem now at 361 seats.

Elabe is also at 355-365 seats for LREM (in their case, I believe that it's the first time that a media projection in France is that wrong).

Does anyone know if the "regular folk" candidates of LREM did better than LREM's professional politician candidates?

Well, the recount process isn't the same as in Anglo-saxon countries. There are routine recounts during the counting process, if there's any discrepancy or doubt. But once the results are proclaimed by the president of the polling station, they are official.

What that leaves the losing candidates with is a legal appeal, during which the court can indeed decide to call for a recount of the votes (they are kept during the duration of the appeal deadline) if it is presented with enough evidence that some votes are of dubious legality. But if no evidence therefore is produced, the court won't automatically call for a recount even if there's only a 2-vote gap. We tend to count the votes well and globally everyone trusts that.

This projection assumes that LREM & Co. win 72% of the remaining uncounted seats.

Currently, they have won 55% of all counted seats.

Which is a possibility since Paris, Bordeaux, Lyon, Toulouse, and the greater Ile-de-France region minus Seine-et-Marne are all still out. Not impossible at all.

Agreed.  That is what I was getting if when I wrote a while ago

So far the seat count for LREM-Modem does not look so hot.  If in urban areas FI PS vore holds up and overperforms then Prez Bloc might underperform Ipsos exit polls

I believe this is just for Evry, Valls' hometown, not the entire constituency.

France 24 says that LREM headquarters is very quite and somber.  They know they totally under-performed.

I think you're right. 51.7% is  now announced as the score in Evry...unless the other municipalities voted exactly the same (which would be a bit strange), it's  just a partial result

No, that's not over yet. That's the final result for the commune of Évry, apparently. Recounts under way.

Actually, Corbeil, supposed to be Amrani's best commune of the constituency, just came out and she's got 58.5%. Not sure it will be enough, but the whole thing is awfully close.
