Le Pen called for proportional voting system. Just curious, what is REM's position on that? I'm guessing that just like the others they don't want to give FN a better advantage.

Prez Bloc has 47.7% of the vote so far.  Since it is in the second round 515 out of 573 seats that implies a vote share of around 53% in seats contested.  A very lukewarm result.

FBM promised it during his campaign. Pretty sure he'll "forget" about it pretty soon.

Macron called for a mixed-member proportional system in his campaign, with a minority of seats in the AssNat elected off party lists, but it's uncertain that he'll go through with this considering how much the present system has helped him and that the FN are his polar opposites...

On the Marianne map, there are currently 4 Communists and 3 Melenchonistas, with PS running way ahead of both groups -- even if some PS are presidential majority types, it seems like they'll still be the largest left-wing group in the next Parliament?

It is unprecedented for a staunchly centrist party to have won such an overwhelming victory over the forces of extremism. The left and the right have had their turn at the helm of every major country, time after time after time. Now it is our turn! I ask the leftists and right wingers now observe what the centre can do when it has such an overwhelming majority.

As an ideally neutral observer, I like to downplay the "our".  Especially as it disregards the "centre is in the eye of the beholder" dilemma that so often trips up centrist parties--most notoriously the Clegg Dems...
Not sure how you can be a "neutral observer" of politics!

It's doable (or at least reachable), if one's primary concern is with the election stats rather than with one's personal partisanship.  (And when it comes to personal partisanship, "neutrality" is a key to judging room to maneuver within a total context.)

According to the Interior Ministry page that jaichind mentioned, there are already some 300 seats counted. And LREM+MoDem only have slightly more than half of them so far ...

Both Ariège seats go FI very narrowly.

It seems that in constituencies where one candidate was perceived as a real opponent to Macron (FI, PCF, FN, some LR), people actually remobilized and voted them in. A bit reassuring, but just a bit.

Prez Bloc has for now 47.8% of the vote which implies a vote share of around 53.2% in seats contested. Like the young turks noted on usa 2016 election night:  I do not see a landslide here

Yeah that seems a bit too much Gorafi to my taste, even if it would be absolutely wonderful in political terms ! Smiley
