if the PS is scrapping far-left goals......how are they crawling closer to melenchon....i guess he is more a supporter of the "working poor", eh?

someone has to do that "horror show" and i guess, it's still better for the more principled left if someone, who isn't explicit part of the left, does it.

From your previous posts I think (you can correct me if I'm wrong) that you believe that the "modernizing reforms" are inevitable and necessary, while simultaneously acknowledging that they are politically painful to carry out. I don't accept the first part of that premise so that's where we differ. Smiley

this is a respectful post, so i can totally acknowledge your position.

i am just convinced, that the "old-school-left"-system, consisting of strikes, very inflexible labour laws and a direct connection between pride and employment, on the NATIONAL level, isn't going to work anymore in a globalized world.....especially since many left parties have adapted to the more flexible scandinavian/german system.

i am a keynesian and a big fan of unions but imho not everything can be stopped/changed with spending and restrictive labour laws.

it was always baffling for me that the "demo for all"-movement was able to rally sooo many french people.....wasn't nearly as successful in other european countries, who are not known for sexual ...well..liberty.

I can only hope this liberal sh**t-show collapses after one term and the Left return in full-force.

if he succeds, he is surely going to collapse - would have been necessary work anyway.

and see it from that pov: "the left" (whatever that means) is not responsible for this government....and FN and LR are still in opposition.

seems like an okayish deal after 5 years of hollande.

The left's performance was so pathetic. Socialists should have just folded into FI.

and if they don't like putin-tolerating euro-sceptic egomaniacs?

I happen to live in one of only two metropolitan constituencies where the runoff will be between PS and FI. Sadly, I also happen to vote in one of the many where it will be LREM-LR, so at least I have my day free on Sunday ! Smiley

Dude, I'm going to take a couple hours and pay $20-30 in car ride to get to my polling station and cast a spoiled vote in my LREM-LR matchup. Surely you can walk to yours and spend a couple minutes do the same. Don't be one of those lazy f**ks who are the reason our democracy is a joke.

you continue to be a hero of mine regarding the small stuff.

this is not the netherlands, imho, the left vote isn't dead, it's just diminished by tactical voters and splitting.

I don't view Macron as a traitor to 'my cause' as he's never been an advocate of 'my cause'.

He actually voted for Chevčnement in 2002, which confuses me.

...seriously? That's hilarious.

well, he was in his early 20ies, i guess you are still volatile at that point.
