Apparently they are doing their own bill and ignoring the one the house passed today. So it's probably DOA.

Will the bill that passed the house also pass the senate?  No.  Will the senate pass a bill at all?  I think so.  Will the house and senate succeed in reconciling their differences and produce a bill that passes both chambers and reaches the president's desk?  That's the million dollar question, and the one I think will be an uphill battle for the GOP.  I'll say no, for now.

Something will pass, nobody has a spine so there will be a few allowed dissenters and everyone else will heel. Problem is whatever is passed will probably be way too moderate to be palatable by the Freedom Caucus so it may still be DOA in the end.

I was thinking the same thing.
The House "moderated" the bill, just enough to get some Rep moderates on board, but if the Senate goes further to get some Dems to vote for it, then the Freedom Caucus will have a fit and they will probably not like or vote for it. And knowing the immature character from this group, this is very likely.
(I will laugh so hard.)

Would Trumpcare 1.0, have passed the Senate do you think? If it had passed the House in march? That was the bill that the Freedom caucus said no to.

I'll be consistent and say no. I will be interested to see if I am right or wrong; and why.

A new bill will have to go back to the House and the old bill can't pass the Senate.  Any bill that can pass the Senate can't pass the House, and any bill that can pass the House can't pass the Senate. It looks like it will have the fate of the cap and trade bill in 2009 or Hillarycare. Republicans can't unite behind a feasible alternative to Obamacare and when people realized they don't have a secret plan to fix health care Obama care has become insurmountably popular.

Yes because whatever passes the Senate will end up being called "Trumpcare."

Well, it's basically a given that anything that passes the Senate would be different, so then it would be up to reconciliation.

An amended version of the House bill will pass, probably with slightly more generous high-risk pool funding.

They keep trying, but somehow, a health plan that turns out to be worse than the ACA simply should not get the votes. It's plain wrong.

They need to make it BETTER, or leave the ACA alone.

And they need to make it CHEAPER for the consumer, or leave it alone.

And for crying out loud, are the billionaires and millionaires really going to cry over having to pay a little more into the system? Really? No tax cuts for those who have WAY more than most people on the planet. Period.

If Trumpcare passes the Senate there will be significant changes, and I have no doubt that the reconciled bill will get passed in the House.

I expect some type of Trumpcare to pass the Senate via reconciliation, yes.

I doubt it, but there's no reason to believe what does pass won't kill thousands of people. The only hope is that the two chambers won't be able to agree on a bill.

Highly likely, it'll probably be lik how ACA passed in 2010. No crossover appeal in the end, Joe Manchin = Olympia Snowe, Collins/Heller/Flake = Lieberman/Conrad/Landrieu and that'll be that.

Lieberman dramatically altered the bill from what it was originally.

Yes, what came out of the senate was substantially more moderate than what initially passed the House.  Pre-existing condition protections could be the public option of this round of debate.
