Ohio. The demographics of Texas are changing in a way that benefits Democrats.

Barring any sort of demographic shift that we don't know about now, Ohio.

I bet nobody in 2012 would have predicted we'd be asking this question in 2017.

Nobody would've thought that Donald J. Trump would be our President in 2017 back in 2012 either.

Texas, for the simple reason Trump hasn't been behaving all that Trumpy lately, and Democrats in their myopia (not necessarily a bad thing for them) will seek to win Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin far more than they will Texas, which will obviously lead to them having a better message for Ohio. Yes, demographic shifts do favor Ohio, but that's more for the long-term.

Ohio: it's much more elastic, and Trump is basically governing like George W. Bush, just with more racism, rather than through Trumpist Nationalism or whatever.

Wouldn't governing like GWB be more conducive to winning Texas than Ohio?

Oh, sorry, I forgot this was for 2020. I'll change my choice to Texas. I put Ohio as long-term.

Obviously Texas. Ohio is far more elastic and Trump would have to fall through on his promises (which is a million dollar question at the moment). If Trump doesn't satisfy Ohioans, he can kiss it goodbye. In the case of Texas, he'll keep it in his column unless he really screws up.

Short-term Texas, long-term Ohio probably.
