By a region's political leanings I mean not only its voting habits at the Presidential level but also at the state and federal levels as well. Alongside that, I would also take into consideration its past voting history, its projected voting patterns, and the particular political and cultural values adhered to by the residents of that region. Of course, that will largely be based on generalizations and even stereotypes, but it is essentially your "feel" of that region and/or experience in it that you should reference.

*I am well aware that my definitions of regions will not be universally accepted; you are free to think they are right or wrong, but that is not the issue to be discussed here.
