I thought this would be a fun thread. And it doesn't have to be political in nature, just something that you think Trump does right, or that you like about him....

What I like about him is that he is a teetotaler. And a borderline germaphobic. I don't know why but I think those are admirable qualities in a President.

He's a devoted family man, it appears. He seems to have a very nice family.

I also like that he, well....let me think....

I'll have to list something else when I think of it. lol!

The man tells it as he sees it! Even if that is all so self-serving and obvious lies. This man believes that sh&^. Contrast the usual politician with the calculated lies.

Also, he discredited an even more destructive branch of the GOP.

He's energized Dems in a way I haven't seen in quite some time.

Yeah, of all qualities, you chose that, Hermit? C'mon now. The guy has five children by three different women, probably cheated several times (or more), makes sexually suggestive comments about his daughter occasionally, and married a model who obviously doesn't really love him back.

For me though, there is something about him that I do like, and I can't really put my finger on it. It's something very primal and masculine in nature, even though his tough guy act is an obvious facade.

His 2nd wife accused him of rape, he has a borderline crush on Ivanka & makes provocative comments, the Hollywood access tape happened when he was still in a relationship with Melania.

It's kinda funny to think that Trump is a devoted family man !

There are quite a few things I like about him. I can usually find something to like in just about everyone. I just really really hate him as president. Some of his qualities are fine in a general person. None of them are fine in a president.

Uh, well, let's see... I guess that he's not a Christian fundamentalist fanatic like so many of his Republican brethren.

He is not the typical ideologue. He really could go any which way. I am so sick of how lock step most politicians are so it is a nice break from that even if he is nuts.

He hasn't started a war with NK, he says he's willing to meet with Kim Jong-un. That was one of the few things I liked about him during the campaign too.

Yep. He believes in nothing but himself and his extensions (family members, cronies possessions....) I have yet to hear of any personal pets.

While he'll never admit any weaknesses, the hiring of Generals Mattis, McMaster and Kelly screams of covering his ass by people who truly know what the hell they're doing.  He goofed on Flynn but he realized he needs capable people in the 3 most important areas where disaster can happen.  And no matter what you think of Pence, he's a quality go between for the White House and Congress.

He fights like a Democrat from the 1930s to the 1960s. No holds barred, dirty, and using everything to his advantage. I can respect that.

I was trying to think of something I like about a man I totally detest, viscerally, and perhaps the above might come closest to coming up with something for which Trump deserves credit. Thanks Grumps.

I can't really name anything. Sure, there are negatives like "he is NOT a raging homophobe", "he has NOT started WW3", "NOT every appointee is a disaster".

Of course there exist and I can imagine worse people in the world. He's not a serial killer. But there is nothing particular about him that is likeable. His political views are awful, his personality is awful, his habits are awful. A man who eats steaks well-done and doesn't drink can't be trusted.

Credit where credit is due. He put a needed stake in the heart of the TPP. And so far he hasn't resurrected it.

Credit where credit is due:
  • Freezing federal hiring
  • Appointing Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court
  • Killing TPP
  • Appointing Scott Pruitt to EPA
  • Approving Keystone XL, Dakota Access pipelines
  • Granting maximum deference to the individual in PPACA enforcement.
  • Continuing to call out the media's slanted presentation of the news

Kind of ironic from someone who is apparently a "poster boy for globalism": Tongue

That's why I kinda like his policy so far Wink While at first it was disastrous, he seems to be turning away from the Bannon road and going on the Haley road. Also, he displayed some sanity on the Israeli-Palestinian issue lately. Still, of course, his statements about Russia and his trade policies are bad.

He pulled back the curtain and showed us how ugly some people are beneath the surface. His candidacy gave us a very honest idea of just how hateful we have become. And by hateful I don't mean racist or sexist. I mean that there are a large number of people who seem to genuinely enjoy the idea of others suffering. The call for mass deportations, banning Muslims, "law and order", locking Hillary up (for whatever reason), and the fact that what so many Trump supporters loved most about Trump winning was seeing liberals demoralized and beaten down does not reflect well on us. And yes, before any conservatives point it out, I know that there are liberals who fantasize about Trump or his supporters suffering.

For a while, I believed that people were generally good, and had good intentions. Trump popped that bubble I was living in, and it's a good thing that he did. There are plenty of good people in the world, but a lot of people are perfectly content being nasty and selfish.

I also think the federal hiring freeze ended rather recently.

His incompetence is preventing him from doing as much harm to the country as he and his close allies would like to do.
