First they came for the progressives...

It's pretty well recorded that Jane Sanders fundamentally mismanaged Burlington College. I like Bernie but it is what it is.

If Sanders had been the nominee, this would have been "leaked" in the "public interest" around late October. "But Boinie woulda won!!"

Sanders supporters would have supported Bernie regardless.

I agree, but I'm disappointed in the allegations and I think this puts a dent in Bernie's overall image (if it turns out to be true)

Yeah but crucial swing voters would've ditched him.

I'm sure it will be spun as her defrauding the big corrupt banks to get back at them for harming the people.

It's sad, but at the same time, I don't think this takes away from who Bernie is and what he as consistently fought for his entire life.

Meh. She should come back once she's run a half-dozen major business ventures into the ground and operated a completely fake university. Then she'd have some real qualifications.

It's pretty clear "crucial swing voters" have no problem with financial shenanigans. (But if she emailed some of those loan documents, then watch out!)

Hold on - Why are people linking this to Bernie? Will people blame Melania for Trump's sexual assaults or comments? Will people call Hillary a sexual assaulter, hooker loving adulteress for Bill's transgressions? If this was a woman candidate, people will be shouting about sexism & the comments are disgusting. You can't hold the spouse of a candidate responsible for the actions of his wife!

Secondly, neither has the FBI confirmed this, nor has Jane Sanders been contacted by them (according to Weaver they know nothing of this). The only source of this is freaking Daily Caller ! The accusation is that she inorder to get money for expansion of school n get more more students exaggerated pledged donations. It is not like she personally benefited or swindled money but the charge is gross incompetence & perhaps presenting false data!

But people should atleast get some official confirmation from the FBI if there are even investigating this, if the charge is serious & worth pursuing before crucifying Jane Sanders !

If Sanders had been the nominee, this would have been "leaked" in the "public interest" around late October. "But Boinie woulda won!!"

Sanders supporters would have supported Bernie regardless.

Yeah but crucial swing voters would've ditched him.

So have the dignity & call Melania a sexual assaulter & Hillary a sexual assaulter, molester, hooker loving adulteress for Bill's actions & say that such a person should never have run, otherwise this blaming of candidates for spouse's actions (totally unfounded as of now) is pure political hackery !

She claimed the college could count on $2.6 million in donations to pay for the purchased land, according to a 2010 loan application. But she ultimately raised only a fourth of that, making $676,00 in donations over the next four years, putting the college into bankruptcy in May 2016, according to the Daily Caller News Foundation.

The report cites an example where Corinne Bove Maietta pledged to give $1 million over half a decade, according to the 2010 loan application. Maietta, however, says she did not make that pledge, saying she offered a bequest of an unspecified amount to be paid to the college when she died, the report said.

Richard Moss, Maietta's accountant, told the Daily Caller that the FBI has reached out to him and requested an interview with Maietta. "It was sometime back in March or April, during tax season," Moss told the paper. "It was in regards to Corine Maietta's current address and where they could contact her for questions related to Burlington College."

This is all the Daily Caller has got which is kinda crazy that people are jumping into conclusions &
smearing Bernie based on these 3 paragraphs !

And literally nobody would've cared, just like how the Access Hollywood tape didn't seem to keep Trump from winning.

The election was about fear, not ethics or perceived corruption. Trump supporters feared illegal immigration and terrorism, not Hillary's emails. Clinton supporters feared Trump, not Trump University.

If Sanders had been the nominee, this would have been "leaked" in the "public interest" around late October. "But Boinie woulda won!!"

This has been around since the primary. A quick search pulls up an article from Heatstreet published April 18, 2016:

Parishioners say Jane Sanders may have knowingly misrepresented college’s fundraising commitments to get loans for the land[.]

...

A source with first-hand knowledge of the college’s financial situation says Ms. Sanders “absolutely did not intentionally overstate the anticipated funding.”

...

Toensing says several parishioners blame Ms. Sanders. “She was the president of the college, and she misrepresented confirmed donations to the bank,” he says. “I don’t see how she couldn’t have known the figures she offered were inaccurate.”

I know I saw a more reputable source bring this up, and I'm almost positive that it was also discussed on the forum as well. No doubt this would have been brought up, as it was already out there at the time.

Didn't Bernie refuse to release some of his tax returns? Could this be why?

Pretty ridiculous considering Jane Sanders' had no financial benefit to this! Why don't you go & atleast read the allegations before posting such embarrassing comments! She gave certain pledges of donations & they didn't come about - What on earth does that have to with Bernie's tax returns?

This is turning into another Pizzagate & Paedophile non-sensical argument again !

BTW form the heetstreat article -

Burlington received an anonymous bequest, which the college leadership understood would include an immediate cash gift of $1 million, with the possibility of additional future donations, the source says. But the donor backtracked, in part because her investment adviser recommended against it, this person said. Two other potential large donors made promises for significant gifts but “in the end, these simply did not materialize.”

BTW -
Parishioners say Jane Sanders may have knowingly misrepresented college’s fundraising commitments to get loans for the land. Lawyer representing parishioners is vice chair of the Vermont Republican Party.

So it is the chair & vice chair of the Vermont GOP essentially digging up garbage & going to random people & trying to stir up a case & who is representing the case against Jane Sanders !

Jane Sanders did get a golden parachute when she left the college that ended up closing.

Everything else aside, Shadows, would you mind making your signature smaller? Even by Atlas standards it seems way too big.

Adding "width=500" to your [img] tag for the 2nd img (so [img width=500]) would really help.

200K $, huge money & so much more than the 100's of Millions of $ the Clinton's earned through speaking fees !

What Bernie says -

The allegations against Sanders first surfaced in January 2016 when Brady Toensing, the vice chairman of the Vermont Republican Party and the Vermont State Chairman for the Trump Campaign, sent a letter to US attorney Eric Miller, formally requesting an investigation into “apparent federal bank fraud.”

When asked about the allegations, Senator Bernie Sanders (I-Vermont) told WCAX the claims against his wife were “nonsense.” “This implication came from Donald Trump's campaign manager in Vermont. Let me leave it at that because it would be improper at this point for me to say anything more,” Sanders said.
