2000. Though I'm not sure things would have turned out differently, since the Clinton administration wanted a war with Iraq too, they just didn't have the political capital.

Why 94 over 2000. Is it cause Clinton became center right in his last 6 years instead of using those 6 years to be center left. If the democrats win in 2000 by a point or two they may win back the House of Representatives.

1994 caused the polarization-riddled awful political age we're in today, made Gingrich relevant, and it's all been downhill from there. 2016 is intriguing, but it leads to the Democrats getting destroyed in 2018 and a Cruz/Rubio-type (worse, politically, than Trump) getting elected in 2020. 2000 is nothing compared to these two. 1994 it is, I guess.

1994 because that's when the real polarisation started it and that's when everything started going downhill

1994 because it turned the GOP into an obstructionist never-compromise party, forced Clinton to become a DINO, and 2000 and 2016 wouldn't have happened without 1994. 1994 also made Dubya governor of Texas. However, even better than reversing 1994 would be reversing 1976 because that would mean the Republicans would get the blame for stagflation and the hostage crisis, denying the GOP the mythology that it's so obsessed with today.

This, plus a Clinton victory in 2016 would've very likely led to massive congressional gains for the GOP in 2018.

2000.  The Republicans would have won the House again anyway.  Donald Trump is great for Democrats in the long run since he's a very weak President.  I don't think President Gore would have went into Iraq and a lot of American soldiers could have been saved.

I agree with the consensus of 1994. President Clinton along with the Democratic Congress could have continued work on universal healthcare and other progressive policies. It would have basically been a continuation on his first two years, which were easily his best.

As much as I'd love to change last year's presidential result (and I still would if I could), the Democratic Party will almost certainly be far better off now than the other way around. If there's one thing that scared me about a third Democratic term, it was what would have happened to the party down-ballot.
