I'm now reading in twitter that it might be illegal to ask the man who investigates you about it. Anyone knows?

FBI Directors don't inform people if they're under investigation or not. Comey probably said something along the lines of, "Well, I can't say that, but you're not the focus".

After hearing and reading some news, I don't believe Trump fired Comey because of Russia investigation. Otherwise he should have appointed new one very quickly to cover-up and acting director isn't sounding as someone willing to cover-up. And Watergate comparisons are lunacy. It probably has to do with Comey unwilling to charge Clinton (and if so, that would be actually a very good move!). PR is not the biggest strength of Trump so it is what it is and the liberal (often fake news) media jump out on the bandwagon immediately, with their ultimate goal of see an impeached Trump. Such is their hate for him.

He can't unilaterally appoint someone, the Senate needs to vote on his pick.
