The reason why I added New Jersey Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno on the list is, like her boss, Gov. Christie, she is a former prosecutor and is a smart woman. However, as a N.J. gubernatorial candidate, she is a weak front-runner. N.J. GOP is not really excited about Guadagno. She'd be a good F.B.I. director, but her boss would be jealous. She has Christie tied up around her.

Gowdy would be best, but wasn't he considering retiring from Congress because he wanted to go back to South Carolina? FBI Director may be a tough sell.

It won't be Clarke. Too much of a history of seeking out cameras to stand in front of, and too overtly political. Maybe Bill Bratton if he wants to go with a police chief.

Bratton would actually be a non controversial choice. Zero confidence Trump could pick someone like that for this job
