I would feel discomfort if my child dated a muslim, christian or any other religion apart from hinduism, or an agnostic that partakes in nepali cultural traditions.

Not at all. My closest friend is a practicing Muslim woman and, while I am not interested in her like that, I would have no issue whatsoever in dating a Muslim, nor would I object to my child dating a Muslim. They are, on average, wonderful people.

Yes, but it would really be the same for any non-Catholic.

The thread title and poll questions seem to me asking two different questions. Would I "feel discomfort"? Yes, because I would worry about the religious upbringing of any children. But saying I would be uncomfortable suggests something more constant, whereas for me  it would be a matter of having mixed feelings as I feel there is value in Islam as well and have good feelings toward many Muslims.

you mean an agnostic that doesn't partake in nepali traditions, yes?

No (R).  "Discomfort" is too strong of a term, IMO.  However, if I'm being honest, I would prefer that my child end up with a Lutheran or other Mainline Protestant in a perfect world.

I would be more uncomfortable if they dated someone who constantly needed to let everyone know that organized religion is a "scam" or something.

This would, indeed, be the worst of fates.

In any case, who cares if they're Muslim? At least it's not a Protestant.

Yes. But mostly because I would prefer that they date a Mormon, as I said in the other poll.

I would be fine with it, so long as the Muslim in question did not support Sharia law or Jihad.

I don't want children.  But if I were to have them, I would want them to be dating either a lapsed (believing) Catholic or mainline Protestant.  I would want them to have Jesus in their life but I also would not want to lose them to a fundamentalist just as I would not want to lose them to a person who leads them from Christ.  I don't know which of those outcomes would be worse for me, honestly.  But I realize that I'm an odd breed and this is one of the many reasons I neither plan on having children or on entering a romantic relationship with anybody.  So this isn't something I have to worry about.
