Andrew Sullivan used to harp on the need for closeted gays to come out. The more that come out, the more folks will personally know, and the more they will realize that trying to stereotype (much less demonize) gays is just so wrong. We are as diverse as straight people are. Many are very happy with their lives, and well adjusted, with stable and loving relationships, and anything but freak shows. And that is what happened - gays came out in droves, including well, myself!
Now, except in the most benighted circles, it is simply not socially acceptable to gay bash, and trash their marriages for that matter.
