I wonder how many people besides Jerry Brown voted Nader in 2000 and Hillary in the 2016 primary.

One of my relatives was a Clinton/Vance/Inslee voter. In 2012, she voted Obama/Cantwell/McKenna. She actually used to be a Republican, having voted for Bush in 2000, then third party in 2004.

That was my exact same 2012 vote, which I feels makes more sense than that '16 combo. Curious how Chris Vance of all people was the GOP pick (I voted straight D last fall fwiw)

My uncle in Ohio is a Obama/Mandel and a Trump/Strickland voter. I kinda wonder who he's voting for in 2018, but I'm pretty sure the answer will disappoint me.

Also, my great aunt and uncle (who of course live in a swing state) voted Bush-Bush-Obama-Obama-Stein.

My mom's mom didn't vote for Hillary because she seemed "out of touch" with the common man but voted for John Kerry, LOL ... I know Trump probably played a part in that, but come on.

Plenty of hardscrabble Appalachians who voted for Kerry in '04 but didn't vote for Clinton in '16.

Clinton had a far more "out of touch" image than Kerry did.

One of my housemates is a Sanders/Johnson voter; not sure if he voted for Johnson or Romney in 2012. He's a white male who also posts on Reddit. Tongue His dad, a UAW member, I believe, is a Sanders/Trump voter. Another one of my friends is a Romney/Clinton voter from well outside of the normal demographic--an atheistic doctoral student in biochemistry from a dirt poor background. My favorite has to be the dad of one of my high school friends: a just-above-blue-collar (I think) employee at a machine parts company, his family is from Minnesota and, quite naturally, a plate with Hubert H. Humphrey on it hangs on his garage wall. Nevertheless, he's quite libertarian in orientation (though still a Democrat), and seems as though he would have been a Brown or Tsongas voter in '92. On top of this, he is an anti-abortion, mass-attending Catholic. This does not prevent him from pronouncing "Arab" as "A-rab". I don't know how he voted this year, but would be far from surprised if he's a Sanders/Johnson or even Sanders/Trump voter.

My mom voted Perot (I think), Dole, Bush, Kerry, McCain, Romney & Clinton, thus finally breaking the curse of always voting for candidates who lost the popular vote (but definitely establishing a new trend of voting for the candidate who loses the presidency).

To make things weirder, she's basically a straight-ticket Dem voter for all non-presidential elections (but like many around here, votes in GOP primaries because that's where the action is).

I have an uncle who is a hippie type, big Grateful Dead fan, but is also a hardcore conservative. I have a cousin who is a stereotypical New York City hipster and he is also a big time conservative who always votes straight Republican.

I might be considered something of an oddball in that I sometimes split my ticket between parties. I voted for Donald Trump in 2016 but for the Democrats on the rest of the ballot.

Father voted for Trump, van Ostern, and Ayotte; voted for Sanders in the primary. Ended up regretting his Trump vote almost immediately though.

He voted for all the losers statewide? Wow!

No, everyone I know of is either a solid Republican voter or my mother, who voted Republican in every election except 2016. She was a Paul->Christie->Rubio voter who preferred Kasich to Rubio but voted Rubio because he had a better chance and because she was a potential delegate for him. She voted for McMullin in 2016, and was a Romney '08 and Romney '12 supporter, him being her first choice in the primaries both times. My father was a McCain 2000/McCain 2008/Romney 2012/Rubio 2016 primary voter. My paternal grandmother was a Hillary 2008/McCain 2008/Romney 2012/Hillary 2016 voter who voted Democratic every year before 2008, if I understand correctly.

I voted for Bush W. in '04, Obama in '08, and Johnson both in '12 and '16.

Sanders won, though. He really hates political families, which is why he voted against Clinton and Sununu. Hassan is technically the daughter of a member of Lyndon Johnson's cabinet, but afaik almost nobody knows that so he probably just preferred Ayotte.

I knew a Florida 2000 Nader voter who has since voted Democratic.

I know of someone who opposes spaying/neutering dogs/cats but volunteers at an abortion clinic.

I knew the president of College Democrats at N.C. State (my alma mater) who openly considered voting for Bush in 2000 (not sure how he actually voted).

I knew a gay man who votes Republican even though his partner is an immigrant trying to remain in the U.S.

There's a black guy who goes to my college who says he's a Democrat, loves Obama, and hates Trump.  Yet he is pro-life, thinks welfare recipients should be drug tested, believes that God ordained men to be the heads of their households and their wives submissive to them, and is one of the most homophobic individuals I've ever encountered in my life.

Opposing spaying/neutering pets is dumb as hell, but I don't see what the contradiction here is?

Spaying/neutering pets could be seen as birth control. Though I suppose her perspective could involve the fact that women choose abortion, and pets don't choose to be spayed/neutered.

She was 20 years old in 2000 and I don't know how she voted in 1998.
