In a vacuum, I would obviously prefer President Pence, but I do not want President Trump to be impeached because he hasn't been proven to deserve it and it would potentially render a President Pence ineffective due to political questions.

This.  As Adam Schiff said, this investigation is a long-road, and not well-suited to a 24-hour news media environment.  It's going to be a while to uncover what's really going on.
