When asked to name the most corrupt presidents,  the names that always come up-Grant, Harding, and Nixon- are all Republicans.  did any of the Democrat  president's measure up to a level of corruption as those three?

Surely the canonical answer is Jackson?

Truman is probably the most notoriously corrupt if the more recent dems though.

Seeing as they rose the ladder of the Democratic Party, I'm sure each and every one of them was KIND of corrupt, LOL.

That's how i'd vote.  Wasn't his nickname "Landslide Lyndon" not in reference to his smashing of goldwater but rather his rumored stuffing of the ballot boxes in a texas race decades earlier?

It was an ironic nickname because he "won" by such a small margin. Which really makes Landslide Lyndon, the poster, look stupid because in a close popular vote, it is now implying illegal voting/ballot stuffing.

To be fair, it's not like he needed help in that area.

In the 1968 election, evidence came about that Richard Nixon and his team was sabotaging the Paris Peace Talks with North Vietnam. Nixon had told the South Vietnamese government to wait until after he won the election to get a better deal. Sabotaging peace talks so you can win the election is borderline treason.

Why wasn't it released? LBJ being a nasty corrupt bastard was wire tapping Nixon and had caught Nixon on tape discussing that. So if LBJ decided to release the tapes, he would have to admit that he was illegally wiretapping political opponents, which looks terrible. On the other hand Nixon did get caught on tape trying to do a very nasty thing. It would have caused huge chaos in 1968.

Robert Caro's canonical biographies come down pretty hard on the side that ballot stuffing* did happen and did swing the election.

Also, LBJ made his money via manipulating FCC regulations to give his radio and TV stations a monopoly within the Austin market, and helped gain power within the Democratic party by channeling millions and millions of dollars from Texas oilmen into an early version of the DCCC.

Yeah, LBJ.  Jackson did horrible things, but they tended to be legal at the time.

What is a "Democrat President"? You might not be one of the brighter lights of this forum, but surely distinguishing between nouns and adjectives is within your capabilities?

President from the Democratic Party of the United States.
