A couple days after this article was posted, Lawrence seemed to indicate in a tweet that negotiations are, in fact, ongoing.

Anyway, I'm not a huge fan of his show, but it would be a shame if the network replaces yet another liberal with yet another centrist establishment-type like Brian Williams.  It's particularly curious that they'd axe him while he's been getting record ratings.

It's because Trump has hated him for years, and Lack wants to appease Trump to get more access for people like Holt.

He should have been let go when he dedicated an entire episode to a poll that turned out to be 9 points off. Or when he dedicated an entire show to the fact that Donald Trump was definitely not going to run for President.

Hopefully he'll take the Ed Shultz route and find a cushy job at a foreign government's propaganda channel.

makes the outrage over the comcast things a few years ago much more real.

would btw funny if at the height of MSNBC's popularity, lawrence, griffith and maddow would leave.

MSNBC is not FNC or CNN. It's more than just a profit center. FNC reinforces existing beliefs to make money, CNN manufactures BREAKING NEWS and on-air conflict to make money, while MSNBC is a tool for Comcast to stay politically relevant and attempt to drive public discourse on its own terms. Which show is more politically relevant? Fox and Friends or Morning Joe? The Five or MTP Daily? O'Donnell's ratings aren't everything.

Can someone who likes O'Donnell please explain his appeal to me? His shows and viewpoints are so incredibly formulaic and predictable, and I don't think he has ever actually broken an important story or really brought any unique viewpoint to the table.
