Ann Coulter is not as big of a deal as she things she is. Trump's base will fall in line with whatever he says. If needed they will change Immigration reform instead of build the wall. They don't have a strong ideological compass unlike the progressive left.

Sorry, but no. Otherwise Hillary would've won '08 primaries.

Otherwise, more critical voices would've called out against the failure of Gitmo closure, or the stimulus which was too small, etc.

Howard Dean the DLC Stooge who just happened to be right about Iraq wouldn't have gained any traction in '04.

Bill would've at least received a primary challenge in '96 too.

No, the left went along with these blatantly conservative leads just because they had a (D) next to them.

Are we just going to ignore that Guantanamo only has 41 prisoners in it today, when it had well over 200 when Obama took office? Reducing Gitmo prisoners by over 80% is a massive accomplishment when you have to individually negotiate and find a place for every single prisoner.

Also the stimulus was the biggest it could be in order to get passed. Maybe it would have been bigger if Franken arrived earlier, but it really couldn't wait for the recount to end. That's not Obama's fault.

Republicans are pretty lucky that the only states that have legalized weed so far are mostly Democratic states. Obviously a backlash could cost them a lot in Colorado/Washington and maybe a little in Alaska and Maine, but in California what little they have is already at risk regardless, and, well, that's about it. It's not like it is Arizona, Florida, Michigan or Ohio we're talking about, which are all states that legalization can be done via initiative but hasn't yet for one reason or another.

Though to be honest I am pretty curious what the effects are of a Republican president ripping away something people seem to like (or at least the benefits of anyway) and blowing a hole in their budgets are. It has to count for something in CO/WA/CA, states that have long acclimated to either a full legalized market or for even longer, a pseudo-legal market in CA, which is now full.

It might backfire in such states as IA/MI/OH/PA/WI by creating a controversy that was not already there.

Never exactly understood why Hawaii is usually so pro-incumbent. What's even more interesting is that New Jersey also seems to be souring even more than it already was on Trump, but it's usually another Pro-incumbent state. I wonder if it has to do with Trump's close association to Christie?

I think it's because Hawaii's largely isolated and independent, so they're more indifferent about the mainland affairs

Lots of people of Asian origin, many from cultures that have much respect for lawful authorities? Some patterns might remain after significant assimilation into other aspects of American life.

Well yes, it's not hard for many of us to have left the party with the crap we have to deal with now. We also aren't going to believe that Obama was a Kenyan Muslim who wanted to bring Sharia law to the US. I know many of the older, uneducated group who really do believe that sadly enough.

also, Im guessing the more educated and younger Republicans are of the "socially moderate, fiscally conservative" variety. Trump's support with those kinds of Republicans was always tenuous at best

Many who thought that Trump couldn't be 'that bad' are finding out that he isn't 'that bad'. He's worse.

Or that he's just so hated that it's extremely difficult for him to win any hearts outside of his (shrinking) base.
