A strange day indeed when I find myself in agreement with Santander, Sanchez, and jfern.

We can only hope that partisans in the Senate are so unified in their opposition...

I like some of Lieberman's policies. He is a moderate. But he is too hawkish.

Could we have actually stumbled on the one thing Atlas universally agrees on?

I've always been a supporter of Joe Lieberman and his foreign policy. I think he's made some unwise decisions, but ultimately I support his voice being included in the process. I would prefer him to get a different post where he is more qualified, though.

I have similar views on Rudy Giuliani.

Thanks for reminding me how much a massive Israel shill Lieberman is.

Seriously, skimming Lieberman's wikipedia page is just giving me flashbacks of terrible Moderate Hero positions from the mid 00's.

-Fought to censor both video games and the internet.

-Supported Reagan on the Iran-Contra scandal.

-Has supported every single foreign policy disaster the United States has ever been involved in, and wants further disasters in Iran, Syria, and Yemen.

-Sided with the Republicans during the Terri Schiavo controversy

-Voted against allowing domestic partnerships in Washington DC

-Called parts of the Geneva Convention "quaint" and urged the Bush administration to ignore them.

It's a serious trip down memory lane.

What does Lieberman's foreign policy have to do with being FBI Director?

There are many immanently-qualified people who could be the director of the FBI.  Why choose a career politican who works at the same law firm as your attorney?  Definitely a political pick.  Reeks of nepotism as well.  He could do worse--Lieberman's sober and generally respectable--but he is very, very old.

Being a massive hack for AIPAC should be a requirement for all public office.

I don't actually hate Lieberman as a person, but I see his career as a Shakespearean tragedy ("Greek tragic heroes are good men, Shakespearean tragic heroes could have been" and all that) and would welcome his appointment to a toxic position by Trump as the final act of that tragedy.

Obama pressuring Harry Reid to let Lieberman back into the caucus, after Reid wanted to mount Lieberman's testicles to the wall after '08, is lowkey the worst thing Obama ever did.

Why would he accept this job? Why not just enjoy the rest of his life relaxing by the pool?

Who on this board, if they had lots of money, would choose to become fbi director in old age?

I live/from  Lieberman's  hometown and I don't know think he is as rich as some other Senators. After he left the Senate he moved back to Stamford and I use to run into him all the time because he lived near my dad. I'm sure he is wealthier now due to his law firm gig. By the way I don't know one person Republican or Democrat who supports him becoming the FBI director. The reaction has been can he please go away.

I wouldn’t support Lieberman because I think he is not qualified for the job. A person from the law enforcement community (judge, attorney etc.) fits the criteria best. Lieberman is also too old in my opinion.

It's odd that most of the j'accuse of Lieberman is based on his perceived political apostasy. One would think the focus would be on the appearance of a conflict of interest vis a vis his law firm, and that he is a politician. I'm against those who are political being appointed either AG or FBI director. Both jobs should be strictly non-political, and those who serve in it being perceived as non political. But being a political apostate? What's that got to do with the price of potatoes?
