Obama won IA HD-82 50-48 in 2012 so this is a fantastic performance for Democrats.

Yup. Iowa was never gone but it'll take some work to get the state back to 2008-2012 levels for Democrats. A full slate and good showing in 2018 and a strong Democratic candidate in 2020 would go a long way.

Breakdown of the MO HD-50 vote.
Boone County ....... Sara Walsh (R) 2,540 to Michela Skelton (D) 2,875
Cole County .......... Sara Walsh (R) 132 to Michela Skelton (D) 67
Cooper County ...... Sara Walsh (R) 212 to Michela Skelton (D) 85
Moniteau County ... Sara Walsh (R) 853 to Michela Skelton (D) 412

The raw number of votes cast in this special election -- 7,176 -- is only slightly smaller than the number of votes that were cast in a St. Louis suburban, predominantly black, district three years ago; HD-67 had a special election in which 7,372 votes were cast. But these races had higher turnout than most Missouri mid-term special elections, which is often 6,000 down to less than 2,000.

Pretty excited for HD-50 on Tuesday. Hopefully Skelton does well.

I predict a Skelton win. As well as a Miller win in IA-HD-82 (the seat is a Democratic seat that Trump won 58-37)

I think Miller wins with the sympathy vote. I think Skelton could too, although I am putting my fake money on Walsh, though if Skelton does win, I would credit it to her last name. Skalicky definitely loses, too R. Nothing in terms of margins of the Missouri seats, as they don't have enough recent history to compare it with, and I don't know much about the two districts. But, I think Miller wins 54-46.

Were my guesses good, or were they good? Particularly talking about Iowa here folks.

Special election will be happening in Florida's 58th House District (in northeast HIllsborough County) after incumbent Rep. Dan Raulerson (R) resigned because of back pain. Initially this looked like it may be competitive - it's a GOP-leaning seat that Trump won by ten, but Dems were recruiting a credible candidate in former Plant City Mayor John Dicks and do have a registration advantage. Dicks, however, decided not to run, and as he was the only candidate the local party had been "actively recruiting" it seems like the FDP is gonna punt on this race.

Meanwhile, in House District 44 (eastern Orange County), a seat Hillary won by 7, a special election will be happening on October 10th. Democrats nominated some dude Paul Chandler, but a recent lawsuit may throw him off the ballot. Candidates must live in Florida for two years in order to run for state office, and the lawsuit claims Chandler voted in Missouri in November of 2016.

This is for state leg results, not candidate research or school board/mayoral elections, and there does not appear to be a page for RI-13.

Shenanigans afoot in Rhode Island SD 13. Apparently half of a batch of mail ballots have been embargoed because they were all notarized by the same person.

Euer has won by a lot, not seeing a good source on the exact numbers however.

Edit: Looks like it is going to end up being around 60-40.

"Excitement building at Randall Woodfin party. Mayoral challenger has 46% of vote with 1/3 of vote counted. Mayor Bell trails @WVTM13"

Wonderful news!

Crazy, but not unwelcome.

I've just read the articles that have popped up here and there over the past few days about the race. You've probably seen them too. It's my impression that Bell isn't unpopular but people want someone new. Bell is basically Some Guy who became mayor.
