I'm curious as to why wouldn't have voted for Stevenson in 52' and 56'.

The 50s would of been a mixed bag for me. On one hand there was Eisenhower who had some good and some bad and was successful at both, and on the other hand there was Stevenson who was mostly good but I probably would of had doubts first time around as to if he could pull them off. Plus ending Korea would of been a primary issue in 52. 56 I could probably gone either way really, but I would probably of been relatively impressed with Eisenhower's civil rights stances (especially compared to everyone whom came before) and would of wanted to reward good behavior on that.

I would've voted for T.R. in 1904 (R) and 12 (Prog), and in 24 I would've voted for LaFollette. With those exceptions, I would've voted for the Democratic candidate in the other 20th century elections.

I would've strongly considered voting for Hughes in 1916, but Wilson did a good job during his first term enacting many of the progressive measures Roosevelt campaigned for 4 years earlier (Roosevelt supported Hughes in 16, but apparently due more to differences with Wilson over foreign policy and personality), and was more anti-trust then Hughes and TR. Ike was decent, but Stevenson would've been a fine president and ultimately won my vote. I would've considered voting for Anderson in 1980 until the polls made it clear he didn't have a prayer and it was a choice between Carter (urg) and Reagan (triple-urg).

I don't see how anyone could support Edwards in the 08 primaries with any retrospect.  The man was hiding an affair that was going to come out regardless of where his political career went.  Democrats should be thankful everyday that we didn't even take his candidacy seriously in 2008.

The affair was not told when he announced, it was known after the announcement. At anyrate until the last debate Hillary was favored to win the nomination but she didn't live up to expectations in the Philly debate and she became beatable.

You said it. I had a lot of respect for Edwards, and thought he would become our next President in 2005 and 2006. Now I'm so disappointed in him and so glad he lost.

It can be argued that Edwards split the vote in Iowa and allowed Obama to win that primary. As far as 2006 was concerned he performed badly against Cheney in the last debate and he didn't live up to expectations either, people wanted Bob Graham to replace him back then.
