Has there ever been a president with more scandals at this point in his tenure than Trump?

Has there ever been a president who did something worse than collude with a foreign government to hack our election process?

Has there ever been a more authoritarian president than Trump?

Has there ever been a time where the US was more divided, where even the biggest criminal scandals didn't phase the president's base?

These are serious question I'm asking (unfortunately), and I'm only looking for serious responses.

Well, Bush started a $2 trillion for no good reason that led to the creation of ISIS. We've had plenty of terribleness from Presidents before Trump showed up.

Speaking of elections, unlike the Russia allegations, it's been proven that Nixon committed treason by sabotaging the peace talks right before the 1968 election.

John Adams had the Alien and Sedition Acts. Wilson was an open racist. George W Bush had the Patriot Act.

It seems certainly unique that he started his presidency with scandal and controversy right off the bat. Then again, a lot of these contoversies originated from his presidential campaign and were merely carried over into his presidency.

Keep in mind that he lost the popular vote and started his presidency with a 45% approval rating, the latter of which was also unprecedented. You don't start your presidential term with such low approvals for no reason. Trump basically arrived in the White House as damaged goods.

In addition, Trump and his team never showed any true effort to actively avoid scandal. For instance, look at the decision to appoint Michael Flynn national security advisor despite the fact that they knew that he was under investigation.

For a time during the transition there had been a bit of a uncertainty whether President Trump would be like the candidate Trump or whether he would shred off his abrasive "campaign mode" personality and become more statesman-like. As it turned out, people who expected the latter were mistaken.

Warren Harding's Teapot Dome scandal?

Worse than collusion with a foreign power to hack an election?

Andrew Johnson is a pretty good answer for both of these. He started out trying to short-circuit Reconstruction and undercut efforts to help freedmen (even if his eventual legal offense that led to him getting impeached was the stupid Tenure of Office Act that would never fly today), and yes, Reconstruction was a pretty damned divided time when half of the country was under military occupation.
