January 20, 2017: Donald Trump, in his inaugural address, announces he will not serve as President of the United States. He praises himself for 20 minutes and then says he wants to be Emperor of Greenland. He says the natives there are 'wonderful people' and that 'he would be honored to be their ruler'. After his speech is over, he formally resigns, and Pence takes the oath of office.

January 21, 2017: Denmark sends part of its navy into Greenland waters. Trump's flotilla of invincible solid gold battleships, fighter aircraft, and carriers destroys the Danish navy 50 miles south of Nuuk. Trump by the end of the day has taken over Nuuk.

January 25, 2017: After a few days, Trump's army of solid gold robots has subdued major resistance in Greenland's urban areas, and Trump declares the Trumpean Empire of Greenland. In a televised press conference the next day in Nuuk, Trump boasted of his win, talking about how he will 'make Greenland shiny and beautiful' and holding up a map of all the areas he controls. He says his wins on the battlefield are even more impressive than his Electoral College win in the 2016 election. "We won bigly, we will keep on winning, and we will make Greenland the most beautiful nation on this planet. It'll get to the point you'll never get sick of winning, folks."

January 26, 2017: The United States acknowledges the Trumpean Empire of Greenland as the legitimate government on the island. Denmark sends a tersely worded letter of protest, but to no avail. Trump and Pence, over the coming weeks, work out a deal in which the US can use golden robots for warfare abroad, as part of an broader package that includes a free trade deal that waives duties on Greenland-made things.

February 3, 2017: Trump signs an executive order imperial edict stopping the melting of Greenlandic glaciers.
February 5, 2017: At the behest of Vladimir Putin and Mike Pence, Greenland becomes a permanent member of the UN Security Council, on the basis that 'its invincible navy and powerful golden robots gives it one of the world's most powerful militaries'.
February 8, 2017: Under the orders of Emperor Donald I of the House of Trump, oranges are planted in southern Greenland. Trump says to world media that 'within five years, we can produce half the world's oranges. You won't believe your eyes. We'll make Greenland Green Again'.
