This is the bill I'm most proud of here. I would love to see us pass it. Fhtagn and I have wanted to get this done forever.

The idea behind it is simple. We lower energy prices, we take a sh**t ton of coal fired plants off the market and we increase the ability of the South to accommodate increases in future demand.

Everybody wins.

I have no problems with this as long as the new plants aren't built near a population center.

The language could also use some clarification.

What are we going to do about job losses in coal producing areas?

Where might be the best location for the new plants? Rural eastern MS? Rural southern AL? NW Georgia?

I strongly support nuclear energy, and look forward to this chamber passing this bill.

West Texas has the lowest population densities in the South, and some of the lowest in the lower 48.

West Texas (and Fort Stockton) have good transportation infrastructure too.

Coal gasification plants would be one way to use the coal. Syngas is actually a really good way to make car gas (far better than ethanol).

Well, since it's been a couple days since actual discussion, I'll go ahead and second the motion.

I will now bring this to a 48 hour final vote.

A little late on getting to this (my apologies), but voting has closed.

With 4 votes in favor, 0 against, and 1 not voting, the Clean Energy Bill passes.
