As I said in the pot thread, the bill was weak to begin with (all it did was organize a commission to study how to regulate a pot market and legalize growth of up to a pond of weed... not really something you can run a business on).  This is an HP move by Scott, but it's likely to come back next session in January with the changes that Scott requested.  (Which interestingly by the way is a step above even what woke liberal hero Andrew Cuomo wants - no legalization at all.)

Sad, but it'll pass eventually. If they could get it on the ballot I imagine it would pass no doubt.

LOL.

Anyway, while I disagaree with the decision, I respect the conservative approach (steady, well-reasoned change).

Considering this bill legalized recreational marijuana and then created a commission on how to implement it I don't think it could be any more conservative/reasoned.

Legalizing it for medical reasons with enough regulations to make sure that it is a viable experimental therapy for those who need it but also doesn't become a mockery of the law like it became in California?

Nope, it'll likely be recreational in most states within your lifetime so better accept it kiddo.

This bill was one of those, like the legalization of medical marijuana in Arkansas, which is really bad written. Sure, I support the general idea, but anyone who has read a half dozen bills, particularly ones dealing with drug legalizations, or more should be able to easily see this is badly written.
