I condemn the act, but I would have still voted for Gianforte here, given that the other choice supports 3000 murders per day.  I can't think of a race in recent memory where I would have voted for a Democrat (I pretty much consider the Democratic Party a domestic terrorist group for supporting abortion).

Though I find your beliefs personally horrifying, I applaud you sticking to your values. After all, if we don't vote for what we believe in, what are we voting for?

A Democrat would and most Indies would.

But the modern Republican ? Not. Makes them more likely to vote for their candidate, especially if that candidate beats up a filthy librul fake-news reporter. Grab'em by the PUSSY !

Plus, the good thing for Gianforte is that 2/3 of the vote is already in ...

You're the ones who legitimized political violence. You don't have a leg to stand on. Stop the hypocrisy.

Why aren't you campaigning to save embryos that naturally fail to implant?

What about John Bel Edwards vs. David Vitter?

Obviously, content is key.  So, in the case of Montana, I would either vote for Wicks or not vote at all.

this is basically my position.

Define "assault." In Gianforte's case, almost certainly. That Democratic Congressman who manhandled the Tea Party activists on the street a few years ago? Maybe not (assuming I'd ever vote for him to begin with).

The ratios of Yes/No by party in this poll are likely accurate as a whole even with their small sample sizes, and tell you really all you need to know about why a minority party has such an iron lock on our political systems and the majority is a quivering pile of useless emotional garbage.

In a House race, yes. We can put up a better candidate in two years.

In a Senate race, maybe. Depends partially on who the Democratic candidate is. If it is 2004 Barack Obama, probably. If it is Elizabeth Warren or Bernie Sanders, no. Six years is a long time to have a senator that is as far left as those two represent me.

In a presidential race, definitely.

If the offense is a felony, yeah, my vote definitely changes.

Yes, full stop. Our elected (or would-be elected) officials should not use violence against anyone, especially not reporters. I would vote for a Green, Libertarian, or if possible, write someone in (I would personally favor a good family friend who happens to be a city councilman for my home city).

I pretty much consider the Republican Party a domestic terrorist group for supporting guns with no background checks and advocating the indirect deaths of millions of people by gutting all welfare and healthcare.

Depends on what kind of "assault". Jimmy Dore's Alex Jones incident certainly would make me more inclined to vote for him if he were running for office.

It depends on the race.

In this particular situation, if I were a Gianforte supporter, I would vote for Quist with the knowledge that it would only be a slight dent in the GOP majority and that the seat would be in play again in just over a year with the anticipation of a different/better candidate.

While I don't consider either major party a domestic terrorist group, this covers some of why I vote for certain pro-choice dems even though I'm strongly pro-life.

In most circumstances, yes. I'd probably vote third party.

I don't see what is so hypocritical about not voting for a nutjob. Gianforte was just outright in the wrong.  So was Ben Jacobs, but Gianforte took it to a whole new level.

Gianforte's behavior is so indefensible that were that coming from Democrat, I would vote for a liberal/moderate 3rd party candidate or leave it blank, in most circumstances. If Hillary had assaulted a reporter (not realistic anyway), I would have still voted for her over Trump as Trump is so awful and even defends his supporters who have been violent against Democrats.

If it's a minor assault from an otherwise competent Democrat I'd still vote for but not defend--I would have still voted for Bob Etheridge in 2010.

Ever wonder why this is much less likely to happen from a Democrat in a Democratic state/district?

Alcee Hastings is too busy sexually harassing his aides.
