1. My childhood nickname was "Red" (I currently have brown hair)
2. I took first place in a 6th grade statewide (MI) math competition.
3. I share a birthday with Adam Sandler.
4. I share a birthday with Star Trek (+/- 24 hrs).
5. I shared a college dorm with the nephew of Alan Dershowitz, and had a semi-intelligent conversation with him once.
6. One of my teachers in college was Glamour magazine Woman of the Year.
7. I wrote a letter to the editor to my college newspaper critical of the Senate treatment of Robert Bork.
8. I read "Atlas Shrugged" from cover to cover.
9. I interviewed for NASA.
10. I worked briefly for a talent agency.

Feel free to guess which one is the lie, but keep it going! Let's hear yours!

Philistine!

That said, I don't see why any sane person would get through all of an Ayn Rand book. I'll guess that's a lie.

It's called I had eleven-hour security shifts every weekend of the 2015 Summer, so I guess that would be insane. So yes.

I agree with the lie being number 8. It's always the most mundane option.

I feel like this would be better if it was in a more structured "previous poster" thing--it might actually be a fun thread if it was something like that. Right now it's just "the mathstatman gives a bunch of facts about his life thread." Tongue

I'll guess #1 is the lie for you. Because that's a ridiculous thing to lie about therefore no one else would guess it.

Mine:

1. I only have 3 pairs of pants and I'm fine with that.
2. I've lived in 8 different places in my relatively short life.
3. I haven't been on an airplane, to the beach, or out of the south in over 13 years.

2. I knew Orson Scott Card personally
3. I have hyper-extended/double-jointed arms

#1. That would be cruel and unusual punishment.

Here is my list:

1.   I have climbed to the top of Mr. Gorgonio, the highest peak in Southern California, twice.

2.   I once was stuck on a hillside as a kid, and had to be rescued by the Fire Department.

3.   My Dad sometimes whipped me with his belt.

4.   I once was a libertarian

5.   I was caught in bed with this girl, when her former boyfriend came into the room, and he punched me in the face.

6.   My mother was blind.

7.   I drove all over the Western US and into Canada with a friend at age 16.

8.      I got an A in gym class in the 9th grade.

9.      I was over 6 feet tall at age 11.

10.   When I was in high school, I met the guy who was my Congressman before I moved to NY about 3 years ago.

Number three, unless your supposed family connections got you in.

Torie: 5, 8, or 9. I guess eight.

For Torie I'll guess 8.

Here are some for me:

1. My family has a legend of buried treasure.

2. I once asked a girl to a dance by leaving a fake blood-covered horse's head on her desk with a Mafioso-style note attached - and she said yes.

3. I was briefly interviewed for a "man on the street" type piece for CNN on the death of Michael Jackson.

4. I'm a pretty avid car person, and have restored an old Fiat in my spare time.

5. As a kid, I had an irrational fear of staying up past 1 am.

I will guess number 5 for crumpets. I am impressed with his creativity about how to score a date I must say. What is the protocol for revealing what you lied about? Or is it to remain a mystery forever?  Smiley

I just remembered I never said what my lie was - anyways, it was #3. I was never interviewed by CNN about Michael Jackson.

I will guess number 5 for crumpets. I am impressed with his creativity about how to score a date I must say.

Asking people to dances was a huge deal at my high school, for some reason, and it was basically a competition to ask in as creative a way as possible. Another time, I asked a girl by putting Burma-Shave-style rhymes all over campus.

For Castro I'll guess #1.

1. I have been to Wichita
2. I have a favorable view of the state of NJ
3. I have made a Republican gerrymander of Nebraska with 10 seats, but never posted it anywhere
4. I spend 1 and a half hours reading up about monarchies and royal families sometime recently around 3-4 in the morning
5. I have had Texas shaped pasta
6. I joined two microparties in Atlasia during 2015, but quickly rejoined Labor
7. I haven't used a notebook computer at any point in the past 4 years
8. I don't know any Tagalog
9. I like to say stuff like 'R-Florida' and 'D-Texas' out of context and out of nowhere (i.e. I am doing normal stuff, then for some reason I just spout those words out, while still doing said things, then stop saying such phrases and getting back to focusing completely on what I am doing. Repeat.)
10. I have seen the Red River
2 lies, 8 truths. Guess what they are.
